The 4 Most Powerful Agreements In Your Life

Personal freedom is an attribute craved by the human race for as long as humans have been around. Freedom from worry, anxiety or perhaps a stressful situation.

In all we are striving for some level of freedom in our personal and professional lives - a feeling of personal fulfillment and signficance that money can't and never will buy.

In our personal interactions with people and in our attempts to build cohesive, long term and successful relationships, we must look at a template that allows us to maximize every bit of that effort - especially for small business owners in this ever changing, fast paced world we are in.

In reading one of my favorite books of all time, "The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz" - the author lays out the template that we all can use as business owners to create this magical personal freedom in our relationships and to create those relationships where the energy is undeniably wholesome and pure.

These four agreements should be internalized and practiced on, daily - made a piece of you so that you are operating at full efficiency as a human being

The Four Agreements

Be Impeccable with Your Word

I say what I mean and I mean what I say - using the power of your word in a direction of truth and love. Never use your authority as a business owner that puts you in a negative light or for that matter, a negative light for another person. Gossip will destroy your business. Avoid it! As a business owner, you are the ALPHA. Everything rises and falls on you. Never violate this agreement - at any cost!

Don't Take Anything Personally

What others say is of no consideration to you - as a business owner, you will always have your critics. It is par of the course. Deal with it. When you are immune to this stuff, you exude a powerful energy that attracts others. That's what leaders do!

Don't make ASSumptions

Ask questions, be in the know! If you ASSume, well you know the rest. Communication as a business owner, specific to your customer and also your employees will make and break you. If you have a culture that is toxic, seek professional guidance from the proper coaches and consultants that can ascertain what is broke and what remedies you must take to fix it and fix it with a quickness. Always be someone that seeks to understand, rather than to be understood.

Always Do Your Best

Self judgment and even abuse stems from beating ourselves up. Heck, I have this issue and I'm working on it. Your best is always required, not perfection. Be persistent in your efforts to grow and improve and things will manifest as they should, naturally.

These agreements are the backbone of my professional and also my personal life. They are my COMPASS when things go crazy. Now that we are at the end of Q1, do a self assessment. It's vital to our growth and our results. I recommend reading this book of course, but for a deeper dive, get GrowthDay as a personal development tool. Brendon Burchard is a master of personal growth and everyday I dive in and immerse myself in self improvement.

As a business owner, you have a duty and responsibility to be a leader. Be that leader - and be that change maker!

Let me know your thoughts on the book in the comments below - and what is one area out of the 4 that is critical for you in your stage of growth as a business owner and as a person.
