4 Main Logo Transfer Methods in Hair Tool Products
There are almost 20 different methods in product surface treatment, but mostly applied in logo processing method in our hair tools products there are 4: silkscreen (screen printing), pad printing, etching, and IMD.
Engraving is mostly applied in packaging artwork in our industry so we just talk about the above 4 methods.
Silkscreen: Silkscreen is a centuries-old process for printing artwork on textiles and other materials. It uses a mesh stencil through which ink is transferred to your material. The ink is placed on top of the screen, and a roller or squeegee passes over the screen, forcing the ink through the stencil onto the material below.
Silkscreen is mainly applied in textiles and packaging.
Pad Printing: the process just like seal. The pad is pressed into the ink plate which has been tailored to the shape of logo or your desired artwork, then pressed onto the object and left to air dry.
Pad printing is not picky on different surfaces, makes it easier for printing on small, uneven, curved or plastic surfaces, or when you are trying to capture fine details in an image.
Etching: includes laser etching and chemical etching. Laser etching is by a high power laser etcher custs into the surface of the material to create a lasting design. Chemical etching is a high precision process that uses baths of temperature regulated etching chemicals to selectively remove material to produce high precision metal parts in any desired shape.
Etching allows for high precision image and the result is more durable compared to ink method.
IMD- In-mold Decoration: To put a printed sheet of plastic into an injection mold, then pour in resin to form them as an integration.
IMD is a green way and the logo or artwork will be with the highest definition durable and scratches resistant, only need to consider that the logo or artwork would go always together with the mold.
