4 Key things e-commerce Brands should do in Q1

4 Key things e-commerce Brands should do in Q1

I feel it is definitely events season, online and in person! Each week we include a list of events, take a look in the section below; please do come and join us, we are always hoping to provide a nugget to help you and your business. This week, I was speaking at the D2C Marketing Club in Farringdon. We had a great group of brands and the 3 speakers gave a few points on “jobs to be done” in Q1 in preparation for success during the year ahead. My 4 points were simple and follow themes I often talk about:

?? Review and reflect on your core metrics and look at them across 2024 (the graph at the top of the Sales Insights page in Sweet is a simple way to this).? I talk about not missing the “mountains” and this is a perfect moment to look for peaks and troughs in your metrics to ensure you beat the peaks and miss the troughs!

?? Ensure you have translated your revenue goals into customer metrics - the Sweet Growth Model.? Does your budget answer the questions how many new customers do I need and how much can I afford to spend?

?? Focus on the points of “value erosion” - discounts, free shipping and returns - and ensure that you have testing programmes to validate your actions. Do you really need to give 10% away on your pop up to every new customer?

?? Finally, new channels drive sales, but few are simple to set up and scale quickly. If you want an Amazon channel my advice is to get going now (we can help). The other speakers rightly talked extensively about testing and in particular, for Meta, creative testing. A really key topic that I will return to on another morning. So please do come and join our events online and in person.
