4 Key Lessons I've Learned as a Content Creator

Welcome to my very first LinkedIn newsletter friend and I'm excited to start sharing my journey as a content creator with you.
I love creating content and using my story to inspire, motivate, educate and entertain my audience, with the added advantage of making a living off of my expertise as a content writing and marketing coach.
So my intention with my LinkedIn monthly newsletter is to share my journey as a content creator, with the hopes of helping you become a better content creator by learning from my mistakes, and the lessons I've learned and continue to learn along the way.
I'm going to start by clarifying this,
You might be wondering, if you should call yourself a content creator
If you create content in whatever form, you definitely are a content creator.
It's clear by now that social media is here to stay, and the way businesses reach and connect with their customers now, is through content marketing.
So if you're not creating content consistently, you're with the bunch off people who are missing out on using their expertise to build a community, leave an impact, and make sales, because they've made a decision to only be spectators and consumers rather than creators.
For me, I was in a whole other group.
I was neither a spectator nor a creator.
I hated social media.
But when YouTube basically became my source of information about everything and all things, I became intrigued by people who provided this information.
I was inspired by people like Vanessa Lau and Sunny Lenurduzzi who shared information about social media marketing and entrepreneurship.
At this point I was at a point in my life when my job made me depressed and I was looking for a change, but didn't really know what to do. (Let me know in the comments if you can relate)
I loved the idea of sharing my journey and my story about something I was passionate about, but I had a couple of insecurities.
Long story short(kinda), I was able to overcome my fears and build a business that help coaches and creators confidently show up and create highly converting content that stands out, that's relevant to those they serve, that leaves an Impact and generates inbound leads.
Here are 4 key lessons I've learned from my experience so far;

#1: Consistency Builds Efficiency
The more you do something, the better you get at it. It's just that simple.
As someone who would always ask my sister to do any of my formal writing, being able to confidently write this newletter, and articulate my thoughts in writing, is proof that consistency builds efficiency. If you want to create better content, consistently create content to get better at it.
#2: Clarity comes from taking Action
Sometimes the only thing preventing you from taking action or taking the next step in your journey is the lack of clarity. The mistake you're making is that you're trying to gain clarity before putting yourself out there. Truth is, the more you create content, and share your story, the more clarity you get. Waiting only leads to more waiting.
#3: Patience is KEY
One huge mistake so many content creators make is the lack of patience. I wish you could just put out a few pieces of content and start getting people lining up to work with you. But it takes time to develope your skills, it takes time to build a community, it takes time to understand your messaging, it takes time to build a business. Give yourself some grace and enjoy the process.
#4: Impact before Sales
If your only reason for creating content is to make sales, then you'll hardly ever make sales. You should be obssessed with adding value to the people you serve simply because you want to serve and help them be better.
I'm not saying work for free. I would never advice that. But once you leave an impact and add value even with your free content, you build authority and trust, and generating INBOUND leads become a byproduct of that connectivity,
Rather than running behind people, trying to get them to do business with you and getting burntout in the process. I've been there. It's not fun. Lol
Always Remember, Impact leads to Sales.
Hope you've enjoyed my first newsletter from the Diary of a Content Creator. Do not forget to subscribe to this monthly newletter.
I have a newly released free resource for you if this is something you need.
Until next time
