??4 Key Behaviors of the Most Inclusive Leaders??
According to a newly released FASTC0MPANY report, 2021 HR Trends, 94 percent of respondents report a focus on #diversity, #equity, #inclusion, (#DEI) in 2021. (Don’t get me started on that 6%). The most innovative organizations are also the most inclusive. So, as a leader, what can you do today, right now, to create a more inclusive culture and elevate your organization? Some key suggestions:
?Everyone Gets a Platform – The most effective leaders make it a point to listen often and listen carefully to those in their organization. While it’s natural to address other pressing issues, we sometimes fail to shift back unknowingly moving from best practice.
If this resonates with you then jump back in! This week! Today! No need to make it formal…simply start by hopping into a regular cadence. To be certain, you’ll learn something new on each call.
?Safe Sharing – People often will not take initiative if they believe it’s not safe. Strive to build a culture where healthy, respectful and open dialogue is the standard. Even conflict can be good. Embrace it.
Do you ensure everyone shares their point-of-view on tough topics? If you see someone avoiding contributing, do you follow up with them individually afterwards to learn why? If you’re not, you’re missing an opportunity to gain valuable input that can allow you to make better decisions.
?Motivate Individuals to Come Forward – Reward those who identify problems with the opportunity to solve them. This will drive a more diverse set of perspectives and accelerate your business! By letting problem spotters be a part of the solution, you motivate them to create shared ownership of the solution and ultimately deliver a better business outcome.
?Celebrate Contributions – Through acknowledgement, both public and private, proactive leaders can generate enormous momentum for change. As leaders, we may not see the things responsible for stifling our teams. By celebrating the contributions from every member of the organization, we engender embrace a mindset of personal development and we identify those individuals with leadership skills apt for development in which we can begin to those skills. We create an environment of growth encouraging deeper introspection and greater contribution. The benefits are clear: we gain substantial insight and a significantly broader perspective by being better informed.
