4 Important Tips To Consider When Creating A Product Marketing Copy

A piece or series of content put together with the aim of promoting or selling a brand, offering, product or service is called a marketing copy.

A marketing copy can also be deployed to convince an audience to carry out a pre-designed or desired action.

Hebrews 4:12 says

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Let's breakdown the various sections of the verse above.

1 ... is quick, and powerful

-Your copy has to be compelling & relevant to your target audience.

- It has to carry a message that relates and/or connects with the trends, lingo, aspirations of the time (period, season or dispensation)

- It should be powerful enough to elicit a reaction, initiate an action, create a buzz or a talking point.

- To achieve this, you have to ascertain the kind of reaction you want to get from your target audience, before creating your copy.

- Storytelling or the use of relatable scenarios is a time-tested method that never fades.

2. ....piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow.

- Your copy should be able to dissolve doubt.

- You must provide answers in anticipation of the questions that might arise in the customer's mind.

- It should appeal to the logic or emotion of the customer.

- Provide a logical reason, catalyst or stimulation that will compel the customer to act.

- A good example is the use of statistics or related data.

- Adopt a distinct tone that differentiates you from others. Don't overdo this, however.

3. ...is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

- Your messaging at the base level, should position your brand, service or product as a solution.

-This however, will be impossible if you do not have a proper picture and/or understanding of the one you are dealing with or talking to as the case may be.

- When you understand your target audience,you can think ahead for them. That is, see their future needs and positioning your brand as a solutions/life partner.

4- ...two-edged sword

- Adopt A|B testing of your copy.

- It helps you determine the effectiveness of your copy.

- The experience garnered will help your team customise marketing materials to suit different customer segments.

- The process might not be cheap though.

- Also, your marketing channels have to be strategically selected.

- Adopt the dominant tone or character of your preferred channel.
