4 Imperatives for Client Partnership in This Difficult Moment in Time.

4 Imperatives for Client Partnership in This Difficult Moment in Time.

Now is the time to work around the clock (as we all should be) on behalf of our clients and employees, so excuse me if this edition is very short and sweet.

My simple thinking is....Be Early. Bring the Fight. Bring Empathy. Bring Ideas.

  1. Be Early: You either are on the phone with your clients early and often, or they will never forgive you for it. Most clients from most industries are in the fight of their lives. Some are seeing business down 30%-90%. A perfect 25-page PPT deck on March 26th is nonsensical. Be early. That window is just about shut.
  2. Bring the Fight: You might have some clients who think things are okay. They might be right, and they might not. Take the contrarian side right now and advocate, advocate, and advocate for what is right. If media should be cut back, then make that hard call, and your client will respect you for it in the long run. If a brand campaign should be paused, you take the shot to explain that versus wait for them to tell you. Bring the fight.
  3. Bring Empathy: Your clients must know you care about them. Empathy is a deep concern for the other person. Empathy is putting yourself in their shoes. Whoever said business is not personal is wrong in many ways in my book. Business is incredibly personal, specifically now.
  4. Bring Ideas: Your clients need your empathy, but they also need ideas. Our clients need us all to play defense but also offense. Bring them ideas that speak to their authentic brand values, and you can’t go wrong. Nothing can even smell a sent of "Selling" but rather solving with ideas that help them.

It’s time to be current and do what we can for our clients. And that is…

Be Early.  Bring the Fight. Bring Empathy. Bring Ideas.

This is simple but powerful to bring values to clients. Small thing but makes big impact.

Reading this added to a paradigm shift I had in the past 24 hours of how we should be operating during these times.? Do these things and be bold.?

@JaredBelsky thanks for sharing, specially when even if working at home and digitally, those values and attitudes remain essential to perform and grant service.

Thanks Jared Belsky?- sharp and to the point as always. ?In my experience it's at times like these that when you really see the difference between 'executives' and 'leaders'. ?Leaders will create urgency, while simultaneously creating emotional safety. ?Leaders will take the personal and professional challenges as opportunities to learn. ?non-leader executives will paralyze themselves in control and reactive action. ?Leaders will think at many levels - tactical, operational, structured, systemic, and meta - all at the same time, while non-leader executives will struggle with perspective and levels of thought. ?Please everyone stay safe and channel your inner fabulousness! ?
