#4 - How I created 30+ HR experts with ChatGPT Custom Instructions

The simple hack to create a powerful team of 30+ HR experts?

Use ChatGPT custom instructions a bit differently than 90% of you are using it.

What are custom instructions anyway?

Custom instructions can be found in the settings of your ChatGPT account (see screenshot below).

Custom instructions are generalized settings, which provide ChatGPT with a specific set of rules. Used correctly, they give ChatGPT a perspective from which it creates content.

These information are provided as answers to two simple questions.

1. What would you like ChatGPT to know about you to provide better responses?
2. How would you like ChatGPT to respond?

This is my first version of custom instructions:

Most users will provide very general custom instructions, and that’s okay. These will definitely make your output better and your use of ChatGPT more efficient.

The main reason?

You do not have to repeat anything you enter in the custom instructions, when starting a new chat. All new chats will follow these instructions automatically. So if you tell it to write in an informal or funny tone, it will do so for all new chats.

Only downside?

All old chats will not make use of the custom instructions.

And that is EXACTLY why I love them and you can use this hack.

Using custom instructions to create 30+ HR experts

Think about it. If any new set of custom instruction will only be used in new chats, you can use custom instructions to alter the personas of ChatGPT.

Yes. Mindblowing. I know.

Here’s how you do it:

1. Think of a role or persona that your new chat should take: Maybe you need to write a blog article. So your new chat should be a freelance blogger, helping you with the content creation.
2. Create the instructions that a freelance blogger would use to create content with ChatGPT.
3. Enter these blogger-related instructions into the custom instructions of ChatGPT.
4. Start a new chat, which will now create content from a blogger’s perspective

Here is an example for the blogger persona:

When I start a new chat now, you can see that it includes the new set of instructions.

In order to have 30+ HR experts at your side, you only need to input 30+ different custom instructions (one for each persona) and then start 30+ new chats (one chat at a time). Then, you can prompt each chat to support you with specific expertise from its unique persona’s perspective.

So, my next step was to create 30+ different personas from the areas of HR, People Analytics, People Tech, and HR Consulting. And for each persona, I created a set of custom instructions.

These personas include instruction templates from the perspectives of Recruitment Specialist, Active Sourcer, HR Manager, HR Business Partner, HR Legal Expert, Freelance Digital Consultant, Career Coach, L&D coordinator, and many more.

And what’s in it for you?
