4 Hacks to Make 2023 Your Best Year Yet

This Thursday I'm hosting a Masterclass on how to set monthly goals.

The goal for the **year** dictates the monthly goals. Let me give you a personal example.

?? July 2021, I booked the MS Riva for a 7 day sail of the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. My business was turning ten. I was personally turning 50. It was cause for celebration. Once everyone's deposits were in, I thought to myself, "How do I maintain the enthusiasm for the next 12 months?"

This became a project that needed quarterly and monthly planning. And I broke down my communication strategy and the desired outcome for each quarter.

?? Month 1. I created a landing page. On it was a layout of the boat with everyone's assigned cabins, why I chose Croatia for the celebration, the islands we would visit, the names of all the attendees, their photos linked to their social media. This took the trip out of the abstract and made it real.

?? Months 2-6. OUTCOME: Keep educating about the trip. COVID was still a real issue months 2-6. How would we keep everyone safe aboard the Riva? was a real concern. I took a vote. We all agreed to self-test. I arranged to purchase rapid tests for anyone who wanted them.

To keep the lightness of the trip top of mind, once a month, I shared facts about each island we would visit. On Mijet, we would visit a national forest, bike and kayak. On the Peljisac Peninsula, we would go to a winery. And so on. Each description became a section on the landing page.

?? Months 6-9. OUTCOME: I need to pay the balance. I shared the date of capital call. In other words, the date the balance is due. People have to organize for what is a large outlay of money. Its when "people's stuff" starts to really kick up. "Oh I lost my passport." or "Oh, I no longer want the nanny." or "What about the war in Ukraine?" I had to get everyone from a travel insurance underwriter to the CEO of the yacht charter company to issue a statement about the war in the Ukraine and what recourse people had to get their money back.

?? Months 9-12. OUTCOME: I need 30 people to cross the Atlantic and be aboard the MS Riva July 16th at 1pm GMT. Now the trip was now close. I established a "Frequently Asked Questions" and as each person asked questions, I published it there for everyone's review. "What happens if I miss the boat's departure?" or "Is there an iron or laundry on board?" or "Can I enter Croatia with a Schengen visa?" I'll be honest. This is when people really start to drive me crazy, BUT I remember, "I work for the deal." The year goal that was set a year ago, July 2021, is coming to fruition.
