4 Habits for getting that job!
Pauli Gonzalez
With over 18 years in adult learning, project management, and business development, backed by an MBA, I offer high-level strategic solutions, driven by a passion for surpassing individual and organizational goals.
I help migrants, Uni students in their last 2 years and professionals changing careers or with job gaps because of a range of personal matters such as staying at home mom and finding their skilled entry-level job in Australia. Some successful stories are about finding that dream job and achieving the position that will lead to their PR. Others just need that push to try new challenges, and some just started working in their professional field despite having no job experience.
My combined experience in adult learning and management, along with an MBA, has enabled me to provide high-level strategic business and learning solutions; and manage complex projects in various industries. My passion for more than 15 years has been delivering coaching, business, and professional development programmes across many sectors internationally and in Australia. As a result, it has made me interact with a range of corporate executives, employees, senior managers, business managers, services officers, workers and front office staff, and employees with different skill levels, cultural backgrounds, expertise, and classification. This gives me the confidence to support those recent graduates and professional migrants wanting to understand and start on the right foot in their profession in the Australian job market.
Today, I’m a Career Advisor in my free time and have a full-time job. My first Australian job was at the government. Different positions have been challenging to find. Hard work, self-learning, networking and good mentors with a touch of perseverance have been part of the ingredients for success. Long-life learning is my superpower. I help people by sharing my experience in the Australian competitive job market and through my signature personalised advice and guided courses with step-by-step online learning on resume building, professional profiles, job search and networking and job interview preparation.
The strategies I share are always practical and strategic due to years of management experience and delivering VET and PD workshops. This strategy focus on skill gaps analysis, business trends, current world job requirements and challenges. And I will share valuable insights you can apply instantly to improve your work readiness, employability skills, visibility, fast track your success and deepen your career fulfilment.
It’s time to stop working so hard whilst continuously feeling unrecognised! I am so excited to share the 4 habits of people who get that job! Because what you'll find inside my programmes is Career Success GOLD! And I want you to enjoy this level of success too. I can’t wait to get you started… so let’s go!
Habit #1. Quit waiting for recognition or ‘things’ to happen
The problem: Too many people are passive in their careers. 'Being passive' means assuming that just applying for jobs or 'working really, really hard' will result in job interviews or promotions. It doesn't.
Become proactive!
The new habit: People who land that dream job, get that promotion and get golden opportunities in their careers know that you must be in the driving seat, outline what you want next from your career, define what 'a career plan' means to you and communicate those expectations properly.
Habit #2. Voice your expertise
The problem: Many professionals are knowledgeable and super diligent in building their expertise but then shy away from sharing that value with others, often for fear of judgment: "What if I say something wrong?" You might expect others to know what you want, but unless they are mind readers or you have shared your goals with them, it's more likely they'll assume you're satisfied with your current role and therefore do very little to initiate discussion of alternatives and job opportunities.
The new habit: Don’t wait for permission to be the expert in the room. Build credibility quickly by consistently adding to the discussion. So, contribute! Start thinking more about your future, network and have conversations with key people about potential opportunities. Chat about the roles you're aspiring towards.

Make an inventory of your capabilities and upskill yourself on what you need to demonstrate now to be considered for those opportunities.
Habit #3. Networking
No, networking isn't?just?for making connections when you're ready for job searching; forging relationships with locals, colleagues, and classmates can help you improve your performance and communication skills and further job vacancies. While 'networking' can feel like a dirty word, keeping relationships alive is fundamental to success because you have strong interpersonal relations. Connect about more than just work. You'll be building lasting connections that will benefit your well-being and work. ?This applies and is more critical for migrants who want to learn from the local personal, operational and business environment.
Habit #4. Life-long learning
The issue: Finding in job ads skills or requirements you need to become more familiar with, or you are not sure you have, or you definitely don’t have.
The new habit: Being receptive to new things. Be open to new ideas, cultures, and trends. Think of being open to learning as your secret weapon! The more effectively you perform, the faster you'll find better opportunities and build confidence.
One strategy you can employ is identifying the skills needed to deliver your results and assessing what skills or experience gaps can be achieved through volunteering, internships, and other activities.
Then, have the plan to fill those gaps!
It can help you discover your passions, boost creativity and open future opportunities. The world of work is ever-changing, and lifelong learning can be the key to enhancing your skills and employability.
This set of 4 habitual behaviours is proven to get massive results in your career when implemented correctly and consistently. Unless you recognise your worth and show the world what you can do, it’ll be just good ideas. And I don’t know about you, but I really want you to get results! So, if you’d like to step it up in your career and start learning to implement these strategies, like the professionals who have done so before you.
The advanced advice helps you uncover and confidently verbalise the value you are already adding, helps you set strategic long-term and short tactical objectives for your career, and unblocks the mental chatter that is holding you back. So, you can stop settling for mediocre career opportunities and start achieving your full potential. I’ll walk you through the content step-by-step and show you exactly how to maximise your results.
