When Sheri Hamilton speaks, people listen.
Sheri is my Chief Operating Officer and has been with me for 12 years now.? She was with me when we had 3 people on the team.? And she’s been with me every step of the way helping me 10X our business.
Sheri leads our Morning Meetings and has our teams operating like a well-oiled machine.?
When you come to the 10X Growth Conference, you’ll see Sheri working feverishly to make sure everything comes together without a hitch.?
Not only is she working behind the scenes, Sheri often takes center stage with me to share her expert insights and strategies to help you 10X your business.
Whether you are running a morning meeting with your team or running the world’s biggest entrepreneurial and business event like the 10X Growth Conference…
Whether you are running a Fortune 100 Company or a small startup…
If you want to succeed, you need great communication.??
There’s no one better at it than Sheri.? That’s why I decided to share with you Sheri’s 4 Golden Rules of Great Communication.
Often, we think we communicated clearly, but we didn’t.? If we communicated clearly, often, it wasn’t received.? If it was received, often it is misunderstood.? If it was understood, often it is forgotten.?
That’s where Sheri’s 4 Golden Rules of Great Communication come into play.
Golden Rule #1: Take in Other’s Viewpoints
I need to take responsibility for clear communication so I’m not misunderstood.?
When you want to relay information, do you think it will be best received if you say it the way you want to say it?? Or will it be better to take into account the other person’s point of view?
You need to take into account the other person’s point of view.?
How much more cooperation would I get if I take the other person’s point of view into consideration??
The other person needs to know what I want done.? They also need to know why I want it done.?
But it’s not enough to communicate once.? You need to do more.
Golden Rule #2: Once is Never Enough
Always communicate in multiple ways.
You need to say it more than once.? You need to communicate in more than one way.?
If you left a voicemail message, send an email.? If you sent a text message, talk to them in person.? If you met face-to-face, send your meeting notes with your follow-up action items.?
How many times have you gone to a meeting and left with a long list of action items, only to get sidetracked by something more urgent?? How helpful would it be to get an email recap summarizing the takeaways and action items?
When you meet with someone face-to-face, it is so important to send a written summary.
Communicate. Communicate. Communicate.?
And do it in multiple ways. Also, think about who else needs this information.?

Golden Rule #3: Don’t Let the “Communication Buck” Stop with You?
Always think about Who Else needs this information??
It’s not enough for you to know the plan, the strategy, and the update.?
Communication is like currency in business.? It’s of no value if it is not circulated.? Just like cash needs to flow, communication needs to flow.? Communication needs to get shared.? Communication needs to get relayed.
Think where else in the company does this information need to flow?? Who else needs this information to get the result we want?? Think Who else needs this data?
Communication is our responsibility.? It’s also our responsibility to make sure we are understood.???
Golden Rule #4: Check to See if You’re Understood
This will save your sanity.
Check to make sure people really got what you meant.? It can be as simple as asking, “Can somebody tell me what I just said?”?
After they understand what you meant, check to make sure they are going to do what you want.? It can be as easy as asking, “Ok, what are you going to do next?”
Don’t do it in a condescending way.? If you do that, no one will want to talk with you.
Check to make sure people really got what you meant.? Also, check to make sure they are going to do what you want.? This is especially true when communicating by email or text.?
This is How We Communicate Clearly ?
This is how we communicate clearly so our message is received.? This is how we communicate so our message is understood.? This is how we communicate so our message is remembered.?
If you can do that, you will be a force to be reckoned with in business.? Your success will stop at nothing.?
Everything in our operation is connected by communication.?
If something goes wrong, it is often a communication breakdown.? When something goes right, it is because we have good communication both center stage and behind the scenes.
That’s how we get to 10X.
And that’s how you can get to 10X as well.
Think about it.? What would your business look like if you communicated so clearly that your message was received, understood, and things got done the way you wanted??
Wouldn’t your business be running like a well-oiled machine?? Wouldn’t your team be much happier knowing exactly what you want, what to do, and how to do it??
When you are ready to improve communication so you can 10X your business, I have something for you.?
