4 Email Templates to Boost Reply Rates

4 Email Templates to Boost Reply Rates

Last week Gong announced their new sequencing tool called Engage. They invited 20 sales experts to submit their best performing email templates for people to use within the platform.

I was honoured to be included on the list so for those of you reading this, I wanted to share these templates so you or your sales team can use them. Here they are:

The Content giveaway/Rule of reciprocity email

Salespeople are always trying to take - most obviously your money but also your time and information. For this email, think about what type of content you can give them that is NOT about your product but how to help them better do their job. Here is the template:

"Subject line: (insert research in 2-3 words)

(first name) - seems you’re (insert research)

Interested in (insert relevant piece of content) to help (insert benefit of reading it)?

Here is how that looks in practice:

"Subject line: new SDRs

Stacey - seems you’re growing your SDR team

Interested in a sales playbook template to onboard your new hires quicker?"

Customer story email

Whenever anyone buys a product they always want to know "who have you worked with that had similar pains to us" and this is the email for that type of person. Here is the template:

"Subject line: (insert research in 2-3 words)

(first name) - seems you’re (insert research)

(Customer Story “Before” relevant to pain)

(Customer Story “After” with results)

Open to learning how they did it?"

Here is how that looks in practice:

"Subject line: new sales hires

Jeff - seems you’re hiring SDRs & AEs.

Despite hiring those roles, Proposify's entire sales team were struggling to stand out with outbound and operated almost entirely off inbound.

After using our playbooks and training, they went from 5% to 50% of outbound generated pipeline and a 6x increase in qualified meetings booked.

Opposed to learning how they did it?"

Last touch feedback email

Most salespeople use a "break up" email as a last touch but how can you divorce someone if you've never been married? Humans naturally like to be helpful so we've found this email gets a 3 x higher response rate than a break up email. Here it is:

"Subject line: feedback

(first name) - could you provide some feedback on my email outreach so far?

It will save others in your role from my mediocre messaging ;-)"

Personalized video template email

A lot of people give up on video as they get 0 responses. The way to do it is to share screen NOT on your demo but on something related to your prospect (e.g. their website, LinkedIn profile or an article they wrote.) Here is an example with a video to clickon:

"Subject line: Amit’s webinar

Udi - made you a 1 minute video about Amit’s webinar:

Click here to see video template "

So those are my 4 email templates and hope they are useful for your team.

Our email sequences typically have 7+ touches so if you'd like to see more templates, please DM me.

Used these templates back in 2012. It worked... "kinda" well. But it degraded a while back.
