4 Effective Productivity Tips for December

We get it, the Holidays are almost here and all you're thinking about is wrapping up work, but not so fast! There’s still lots of work to be done if you don’t want to have a choked January.

The most productive way to spend the remaining working days this December is by knocking out all your tasks and ensuring nothing is procrastinated till January.

Before you call Santa on us, here are some effective tips for making sure you stay on top of your work game amidst the distractions this December;

1. Set SMART goals for yourself and make sure they're realistic

Failing to plan is planning to fail. In the same vein—you can’t maximise productivity when you don’t have goals!

SMART is a popular acronym for; Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound. By setting SMART goals, you can make sure that your time is well spent.

Make sure that whatever goals you set are reasonable and realistic for your current situation so that they aren’t too overwhelming at first, but also don't let them be too easy either. You want them to be challenging enough that they motivate you, but not so hard that they feel impossible!

2. Don't forget about work/life balance—make sure there's time for fun too!

It can be easy to fall into a rut when you're stuck at a desk all day long. Remember that it's essential not only to take breaks, but also to have some downtime outside work-related activities!

3. Try an experiment like the Pomodoro technique

This technique was created by Francesco Cirillo and has been proven to be effective in increasing productivity. It involves taking a rest at 25 minutes intervals.

It’s important to stop every once in a while, and relax, but don’t let that stop you from getting work done! Take short breaks throughout the day to clear the mind and refocus on what needs to be done next.

4. Increase your physical activity

Exercise is one of the most downplayed but very vital secrets to boosting productivity because it forces us to deal with our stress level in a healthier way rather than letting it build up until we explode or burn out.

Asides from the benefits of improving cognitive function, it also helps maximize your health and, by implication, decreases absenteeism.

Final Takeaway

While we all want to close work/business very quickly this season, ensuring you close out with style matters.

Once you adopt these strategies and knock off all pending tasks, nothing can stop your ‘Detty December’
