4 Details to Add to Your Portfolio to Win More Clients

Aim to make your work easier as you strive to get clients to make money online. For example, display all the information clients should know about your past experiences in your portfolio.

It will save you from staring at the camera during an interview wondering how to convince a customer that you’ll deliver the desired results.

I struggled to get work when I didn’t have a portfolio to show my potential clients. I had to explain everything during interviews. Although I did this very well, clients still had questions—because I did not provide tangible evidence to prove my experiences.

Since I got it right, I am more confident in convincing clients to hire me. And it would be my pleasure to see you getting similar or even better results.

What to Include in Your Portfolio

If you search online right now, many results will advise you to include:

  • A biography
  • Past projects
  • Testimonials, and?
  • Contacts in your portfolio.?

Few will explain the details to include in your portfolio. Today, I want to talk about the most important section of your portfolio:

How to Display Past Projects in Your Portfolio

Past projects include any logos, blogs, websites, newsletters, or work you’ve done for your past clients (Note that you must get permission from your clients to display their work in your projects).

There is a basic and surefire method to display these projects. The basic way is splashing images and blogs in a document without explaining who or what they are related to.

The surefire method includes the following four steps:

1.? ? The Problem the Client was Facing

In your discovery call or interview, your client wanted you to help them solve a problem or acquire something for their business. This is what you include at the top of your case study. Explain clearly what the client wanted to achieve when hiring you.

For example, “The client wanted to post two blogs optimized for keywords they had researched on their website.”

2.? ? The Solution You Offered

In the same interview, you promised a solution such as writing a blog, designing a responsive website, or redesigning their logo. Include specific details about your solution.?

For example, “I wrote two 1000-word blogs and optimized them for the keywords the client provided. I also posted the blogs on the client’s website after approval.”

3.? ? The Results You Achieved

Every action you take produces a reaction. In your portfolio, outline the results your solution generated for the client. For example, “One blog ranked third on the first page of Google for the keyword, and the second blog ranked first for the keyword in the region the client was targeting.”

Many people are interested in this section when hiring you because they want to know what to expect once they hire you. So, if you’re unsure what a client achieved with your work, ask them before displaying their project as a case study.

Include the projects with the most desirable results—and be honest because if you fake the results, clients will know. And you may lose the contract prematurely.

4.? ? The Feedback the Client Gave

Testimonials prove that you delivered pleasant results for your past clients. They confirm everything you claimed in the problem, solution, and results section.

Post the client’s feedback below the results you achieved in each project. If you don’t have any feedback, contact the customers and ask them to review your work to enable your business to grow.

Many happy clients will agree to a testimonial without asking further questions. So don’t be afraid to ask.

Action point:

Review your portfolio and add the necessary sections to enable it to speak out loud on your behalf. Clients will scramble to book a call with you once they see what you’ve done for others.
