A 3-Decade/1-Decade Retrospective

A 3-Decade/1-Decade Retrospective

April of 2023 marked my 10 year anniversary with CRB and my 30 year anniversary in the pharmaceutical industry. It honestly doesn’t seem possible.?Where has the time gone!?Talk about Warp speed… wow!?In looking back and reflecting on these career mile markers, I feel so proud to work in an industry committed to the health and well-being of my fellow human beings and double proud to be part of a such a dynamic, caring and professional organization like CRB.?

The industry and the overall nature of the AE&C business and doing business in general has, in some ways, changed significantly, but in other ways is still quite the same.?Clients and colleagues alike have always wanted to be treated fairly with respect, honesty and professionalism. That is how it was in the 1980’s and that is how it is today. At least from my perspective. ?The pandemic however, has surely changed our lives and the way of doing business. I believe that the history books will reference time as pre-pandemic and post-pandemic years.?I also believe that we have still not seen the full impacts of this one. ?Thanks to the pharma industry for playing such a hand in getting us back to the new normal.

The technology and the tools we have available today, right at our fingertips almost instantaneously, is truly incredible. Gone are the days of Engineering Handbooks and looking through the paper project files to find what you need.?A quick google search and a few key strokes on your PC (or smartphone) and everything you can think of and more is right there.?Does anyone remember the days of getting off an airplane, looking at the pager on their belt and then waiting in line for an open pay phone to return all the calls. All while trying to enter your 20 digit phone card number.?Lol… Crazy!

I had known CRB for many years prior to joining.?As a competitor, I always had a lot of respect for Jeff Biskup (The “B” in CRB) and was impressed with the firms client list and large number of great projects they executed. I can recall a short hallway conversation we had at an ISPE conference in Florida one year.?I told Jeff how impressed I was with CRB and suggested that if he ever needed a good Powder/OSD guy, that could wear multiple hats, I just might be his man. He smiled and away we went.?About a year or two down the road, I got a phone call and it wasn’t much later that I joined the firm.?It was a perfect fit from day one and over the past decade I have been able to contribute to many of our clients important projects and to the continued growth/success of CRB. Working with and getting to know so many awesome and dedicated professionals and colleagues that I now call my friends, has been a highlight of my decade here for sure. ?I have been able grow personally and professionally and advance to a Senior Technical Leadership position, as a Sr. Fellow and to a Senior Ownership position, as a Sr. Associate. Very cool on both fronts! ?CRB is the best company I have ever worked for or have been part of and this is where I hope to end my career.

Over the years I have also been fortunate enough to be able to do something with my lifelong passion for music, as a semi-professional musician.?In 2006 I formed a Classic Rock Cover band (Right Turn at 40) as an outlet to the stresses of life and as a means of sharing the gift of music. Since our formation, this six piece line up has played hundreds and hundreds of shows of various size.?In 2023 we will appear at numerous festivals in the Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey region. Long live Rock & Roll! Without music I am not sure where I'd be.

This is far from the end of the line and I still have a lot left in me before hanging up the gloves.?I look forward to continuing to learn, grow and contribute with more productive years ahead. No one really knows what tomorrow brings and I have always believed that “we all live on thin ice, with very little real control over where life takes us”.?My philosophy has been and will continue to be to work hard, play hard, be nice and fair to everyone and have a positive attitude.?After 40 years I have two words of wisdom…. Don’t blink! LOL..?Rock on friends. ?
