It's been a bumpy year for everyone, and so the chances are that might have affected your SEO strategies, and that fact hasn't passed many content creators. For those looking to bounce back and start building up your customers again, you need to know the best content strategies to draw them in. After all, creating pieces of content that need to sell and encourage buyers to trust in your brand takes time and skill to perfect. The only problem is, what do you focus on?
Trends Going Forward
As content writers and producers, it's been a tough road to walk and, coupled with ongoing search algorithm updates and new ways of working, the state of content looks much different now than it did a year or so ago. Looking forward to 2021, there will likely be more adjustments to do to keep the search engines happy.
One of the standout content marketing trends we have noticed over 2020 that will definitely take us forward into 2021 is the need for empathy. We've seen many businesses actually advertising and working with other businesses to ensure fair play wins out over this year, and that attitude is great for both business competition and for winning the hearts and minds of our customers. Going forward we'll need to take a good look at the content we have planned and look at how it sets within not only our own strategy but with the wider world events.
With COVID-19 still causing havoc and misery across the world, businesses and content creators need to ensure that marketing campaigns and content creation land properly. So, as we get closer and closer to another year, here are the top content tips you need to be aware of.
Tip #1: Video Is King
Video content is still King in 2020, and we don't see this changing in 2021. If you've been hesitating about creating good video content, now is the time to really invest.
It's not enough to just create a video, though. This must be done within a strategy. There is a huge gap in businesses using YouTube as a proper marketing channel rather than just a video repository, and that is a huge mistake that is so easy to fix.
Our advice with this is to really invest in a full marketing strategy for YouTube and video marketing going forward.
Tip #2: Enrich Blog Content
Blog content is still huge in 2020, and we expect this to continue into 2021, but with some changes. The biggest change we expect to see is the importance of rich-media content.
Boost blog posts' credibility by using original images, well-formatted pages, tables of dates, infographics, and, of course, embedded video content. The importance of blogging and article writing for search engines really cannot be underestimated. With social media sites fighting against small and medium-sized businesses by reducing the number of clicks and impression posts will get, it's really worth investing in decent, long-form, and content-rich blogs and articles for your site.
Tip #3: Search Intent Is Vital
When you are working on your site and creating useful and media-rich blog articles, it will be vital going into 2021 that the search query intent is considered more than it ever has been before.
With Google's featured snippets update creating waves across the industry, blogs and articles on your website will now begin to rank for more keywords. Now more than ever, it's time to look at your articles as answering searcher intent questions that are on topic, rather than just aim for one or two keywords.
Tip #4: Take A Holistic Approach
We've seen a huge shift in digital marketing over the last five years or so as consumers become savvier about advertising, mobile devices and mobile friendly search gain ground, and authenticity becomes the main player. Therefore, we need to take a holistic approach when it comes to creating content.
This means ensuring that your link building services, your on-page SEO content, and your wider content across the board is not only on brand but tailored to that particular platform's audience. Be that taking more of a wider approach to Instagram influencer marketing, or using YouTube as a full channel experience, and even working with Facebook ads to ensure yours stand out.
There is a huge opportunity to enrich content to land well with audiences, whatever we face in the near and far future.
