4 Common Sealing Issues in Wells (and how to fix them!)

A Sealing Solution for Every Situation (well maybe not every situation!)

KCI’s holistic approach to providing leak sealing solutions involves an in-depth investigation, detailed procedures and highly skilled engineering. In 20 years of business, we’ve helped a huge range of global oil and gas clients repair and prevent leaks using our range of innovative sealants. And though we pride ourselves on solving complex and often unique problems, a few are more common.?

So what are some of the most common sealing issues in wells?

1. Wellhead Integrity?

Ageing infrastructure and corrosive fluids can lead to issues maintaining wellhead integrity throughout the well’s lifecycle.?

Mac-Seal and MS-Sealant are two-part, time-activated sealants that bridge and isolate large or small gaps and holes in seal structures, increasing safety, reducing well integrity deviations and mitigating production deferments.?

2. Damaged Gate Valve

Gate valve isolations may be required for several issues including damage to the seats or the gate, failed pressure tests or leaking stem seals.?

Mac-Pac - a one-part, non-curing, high-viscous sealant that fills scores, scratches and damaged areas around the gate and seat area, creating an isolation that prevents intervention downtime and well shut-ins.?

3. Packer Leak Issues

When a packer element begins to break down, pressure can start building up or losing fluid in the A-Annulus, compromising well integrity.??

Our IG time-activated sealants prevent well fluid migration up or down past the Packer. Weighted to sink through existing annuli fluids, the sealants are effective in small volumes without squeezing or bull heading.?

4. Control Line Leaks

A DHSV must remain open to allow the well to flow and maintain production efficiency. However, with a build-up of hydraulic pressure in the Tubing Hanger Void or A-Annulus caused by hydraulic leaks, closure of the DHSV can occur.?

IG-FP is our one-part, non-curing gel sealant designed to isolate hydraulic leaks in DHSV control line compression fittings, DHSV pistons and V-packing stacks.

Are you currently encountering any of these issues??
