4 Sacred Market Research Techniques

If You're Selling Something. Anything.

I Wrote This For YOU.

If you don't understand your customer, you're gonna fail (fast), guaranteed.

That's why Market Research is of utmost importance. Understand your client & sell to their Heart ??

THERE ARE 4 WAYS TO DO MARKET RESEARCH

?? Consultations

?? Conversations

?? Surveys

?? Internet Research

Let's talk about each… pros & cons, how to do them, & so on.

????????

CONSULTATIONS

Consultations are necessary if you have no clients in the market you’re researching.

  1. Write 40 illuminating, helpful questions in a document
  2. Hit up 10-20 market leaders (LinkedIn or email)
  3. Schedule a consultation call or two, paying $100-300/hr
  4. Extract crucial info & **don’t forget to record your calls**

CONVERSATIONS

If you already have clients, start a casual conversation with them.

- What could I do better for you?

- What do you love & hate about what I do for you?

- What pain does my product/service alleviate?

- What are you stressed about?

- What's the biggest problem you're facing?

The key is in your follow-up questions. Listen, take a genuine interest, & go DEEP.

SURVEY

Ask your clients to fill in a quick survey on Google Forms.

A survey is more effectively sent with something of value - your client will reciprocate the value back by doing your survey.

For example, send your client a $400 Christmas gift with a survey attached.

I guarantee they do it.

INTERNET RESEARCH

  1. Find where your market hangs out online - forums, chat boards, LinkedIn/FB groups
  2. Learn their lingo, mindset, pain points, stresses
  3. Go undercover as someone IN that actual market
  4. PM people, start organic conversations, & learn

CONCLUSION

Market Research is a crucial step in understanding whom you’re selling to.

Conduct research. Know thy client. Sell. Steps 1, 2, & 3.

There are no shortcuts - Market Research is the only way to sell effectively.
