4 biggest takeaways from my 2022 to take into 2023 with you

I've learnt so much from this year.
2022 was the year of a number of milestones for me and I’d like to share some of my learnings this year, that you can take with you into 2023.
1) Be patient and resilient in reaching your goals
When I started ANA, we only had 1x MDRT in the first year. Then it took 4 more years push up to 3x MDRTs. As a leader, to drive certain things you really believe in, you have to stay consistent in building a culture. Achievements never come overnight.
This year, ANA hit a breakthrough of 4x MDRTs in 10 months for the first time this year, instead of achieving it in a year.
For ANA, the MDRT culture was drilled in since day 1. It is NOT A DREAM, but a result of consistent culture.
And I am so proud of my team for reaching greater heights together. Getting 4x MDRTs in 10 months is no easy feat.
But the most important lesson here to all - be patient. You can set your goals but it doesn't mean that you would accomplish them quickly. We all have to start somewhere and take the time and effort to grow to where we want to be.
We are all a work in progress no matter what we achieve, including myself.
2) Don't limit yourself to what your mind understands about your capabilities
I was appointed as SP Group's Head of Productivity earlier in the year. I am the youngest and most inexperienced to ever be appointed, but I am honoured to be selected to lead over 250 financial consultants - running all client and prospective projects.
The biggest takeaway is this: don’t let yourself you can’t, until you do it.
Be brave enough to take the opportunities and punches as they come. You'll grow as you learn in the job either way. If you don't have an answer, ask.
None of us have it all figured out. It's just a matter of who dares to show it.

3) Be open-minded to new methods
I was chosen to be Prudential's digital branding ambassador & spokesperson.
First in the industry's digitalisation initiative, I have co-hosted three Shopee livestreams this year, educating the public on financial literacy and how they can take action to build financial security for their future. This was something new and untested for Prudential.
I’m no stranger to speaking to live audiences, but this was much more nerve-wrecking. You can't see your audience's body language, there's no physical reaction from the 'crowd' to bounce our energies off, and any mistake made is unretractable. But for me, knowing my purpose - to provide value to my audience - is enough to override my nervousness.
We cannot rely on methods of years ago. Be courageous and evolve with the times.
It has been so much fun, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share what I know.
4) Invest in what you believe in, what makes you happy
I finally bought a house in my name. This was a personal goal, but I've always wanted to own my dream house. I am glad that I finally got to do it this year. It may seem materialistic to some but reaching this goal is a milestone of the hard work I've put in over the years, and that is the only thing I need to know.
It's okay to invest in what you believe in to make yourself happy. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I'm excited to see what 2023 will bring. I've come a long way from my humble beginnings.?If I can, you can too.
Here’s to a great 2023!
