From doubling down with long-form content to sprucing up my videos and even saving hours every week by working smarter! ?There’s been A LOT!??
But we've also?had plenty of fuck ups.
That’s?the thing about marketing, you?must?be willing to fail and fail hard to get to the good stuff.??
That being said,?these are?some?of my lessons?from last year?that you might find useful.??
Your headline is far more valuable?than?you think.?
Since changing my headline and experimenting with different variations, I can confidently say that finding the right combination can have?a HUGE impact?on?your results.??

That's quite significant from just shuffling a few words around.
The biggest impact I believe is having a tangible figure?that's results-oriented.?This is marketing 101, people like to see specifics. There?are?so many coaches and consultants out there that claim to be the best but?in reality, results speak louder than anything.?
It also highlights our USP which also happens to be our results-focused approach. I shout about it, I'm proud of it and I'll continue to use it at the forefront of our marketing... because very few can match it in our field.
My advice to you is to think about your USP and use something that's?specific?and results-oriented, then find a way to put that in your headline.??
My next lesson is embracing articles and long-form content.??
Not everything needs to be short and snappy.??
In this fast pace, Tik Tok world, most people think?brief?is better.??
But I?don’t?always agree.??
Being able to sink your teeth into a topic and really?demonstrate?your knowledge on a particular subject matter is a fantastic way to build your brand and more importantly, educate your audience as to why you're the best person for the job.
LONG-FORM COPY IS NOT DEAD.??
Far from it, it's been the best performing content for me over the last 12 months by a LONG SHOT.
Not just because you can?talk?about a topic in more detail, but it allows you?to build a more emotive environment for the reader.??
Taking people along a journey is the key to promoting some sort of action. That's?extremely?difficult to do that with short-form copy. Long-form has stood the test of time and for me,?remains?one of the?most?effective?methods?for?attracting?new customers.??
It’s?consistently delivered on inbound leads and has been a?solid?source of revenue for our business in 2021.
Outsource as much as you can.
This was a huge one for me?last?year. As?we’ve?grown, my time has become increasingly valuable.??
Doing everything in the business was both draining and unstainable.??
Despite my?obsessive tendency to control my environment, I knew I needed to start hiring if I had any chance of taking things to the next level.
There are two main tasks that?I’ve?started outsourcing that have freed up a huge amount of time allowing me to focus on higher-value?activities!??
Finally... my last lesson to share?is no matter how much you hate outbound, You need to do it.
It’s?an essential part of building and?maintaining?a healthy pipeline. Of course,?I’ve?known this for a long time?now, but last year it was even more?apparent.
Inbound is?incredible, and I LOVE IT as much as the next person. Our process is one of the best out there based on the amount of revenue we've obtained for our clients but even then, you cannot predict when an inbound lead is going to come in. You can have estimates, you can make the best guess based on previous data but there will always be an element of?uncertainty.
Outbound has been a strong safety net for our business due to its unwavering?predictability.?I can?pretty much say?that for about 8 months straight I could predict with?90% accuracy the number of calls I would book every week. I knew that if I put in X?number?of hours following our messaging process, I would get X amount out of it. It's not only invaluable for generating revenue but keeping your sanity intact!
You don't need to choose between the two. Use both and set aside a plan in your diary to dedicate a sufficient amount of energy to producing quality content and also reaching out to people in the DM's. That way you'll have a steady flow of inbound leads throughout the year... and a predictable safety net to keep the pipeline full!
So there it is guys! My first brain dump for 2022. You can expect many more over the next 12 months.
