#1 Microsoft Power Automate: AI reads user wishes from the lips
Microsoft's Power Platform tool, Power Automate, which enables customers to build app-to-app processes, now has new AI capabilities. Microsoft unveiled features supported by OpenAI's Codex, the code-generating machine learning framework underlying GitHub Copilot, during its Ignite conference. Users of Power Automate can write in natural language what they wish to automate, and Codex can then give ideas to help with flow construction.
According to Stephen Siciliano, vice president of Power Automate, "our goal is that anyplace in the ecosystem that a person would need to create code they have the flexibility to start with natural language too, and Codex is essential to that strategy."
Users of Power Automate can now specify in one sentence the kind of process automation they'd like to develop using the new Codex-powered tool. When configured with the proper connectors, Codex will translate this into flow recommendations that may be adjusted in Power Automate's flow designer to produce an automated workflow.
At the debut, the tool will support "important" Microsoft 365 connections, according to Siciliano, and further integrations will be made in the upcoming months.

#2 Gartner: This is what CIOs and IT executives should focus on in turbulent times
During Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2022, October 17-20 in Orlando, Gartner researchers stated that by concentrating on three strategies - revolutionary work, prudent investment, and robust cybersecurity - CIOs can employ IT for sustainable growth.
CIOs and IT leaders should transform the workplace by providing the workforce with the tools and skills they need (e.g. upskilling) to produce sustainable performance. In order to achieve both financial and sustainability goals, organizations need to make responsible investments.
"Employers who revolutionize the work and empower their workers with technology will become the employers of choice."
In addition to employee empowerment, Gartner has identified other important areas to survive turbulent times.

#3 Meta partners with Microsoft
At its annual Microsoft Ignite event in New York, Microsoft announced a partnership with Facebook owner Meta to improve Metaverse hardware integrations and showcased three new Surface laptops.
The virtual reality overlay for Microsoft Teams' enterprise messaging platform, Mesh for Microsoft Teams, will be made available for the Meta Quest VR headset through a partnership between the two tech behemoths.
According to Microsoft, the connection would make it possible for users to communicate and work together on computers and cell phones just like they would in person. Additionally, Microsoft 365 apps for Meta Quest will be made available, enabling users to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint in VR.
