Hello, LinkedIn Network!
Welcome to another edition of our 5 Gears Newsletter, where we help you develop the skills and habits of effective leadership. Today, we're going to talk about the 3rd Gear, also known as the Build Trust and Synergy mode.
Gear 3 is the mode where you establish strong relationships, cooperation, and alignment with your team members. It's the mode where you leverage the collective wisdom and creativity of your colleagues, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
In Gear 3, we urge you to reflect on the people in your life whom you want to build trust and synergy with. It could be a teammate, a manager, a mentor, or even a family member. These are the relationships that can boost your personal and professional growth.
Here are some steps you can take to create a plan for enhancing these relationships:
1. Choose Three Relationships: Select three specific relationships that you want to invest in. Think about people who inspire you, challenge you, or bring out the best in you.
2. Define Your Outcomes: Clearly state what you want to accomplish by enhancing these relationships. It could be acquiring new knowledge, getting advice, or simply creating a stronger connection.
3. Plan Engagements: Arrange meetings, phone calls, or social activities with each person. Create opportunities to have engaging conversations and build rapport.
4. Active Listening: During your engagements, practice active listening. Be fully present, ask relevant questions, and show genuine interest in their views and experiences.
5. Follow-up and Follow-through: After your engagements, follow up with an appreciation note or a thoughtful gesture. Follow through on any commitments or promises made during your interactions.
By intentionally focusing on enhancing these relationships, you can create a network of supportive connections that improve your personal and professional growth.
