3rd Annual Key to the Latino Community Awards
El Conquistador Latino Newspaper proudly presents the 3rd Annual Key to the Latino Community Award, Friday, June 8, 2018, at the American Serb Hall, 5101 W. Oklahoma Ave. In Milwaukee.
El Conquistador announced this year's recipients as:
Tammy Rivera, Director of the Southside Organizing Center. Rivera has been active in the Latino Community as a volunteer, and community activist as far back as her teenage years. Throughout the years, Rivera has worked with or for various community organizations. As director of SOC, she has been working on community development and crime prevention. Rivera is currently working on her Ph.D. at UWM.
James Harpole, former Milwaukee Police Assistant Chief. Harpole joined the Milwaukee Police in 1985. In his 33 years as a police officer, Harpole has dedicated himself to improving the safety of the residents of Milwaukee. He was the first patrol commander to hold the position of Bureau Chief of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, and the first Latino to serve as Milwaukee Police Assistant Chief.
Miguel Ramirez, Telemundo Anchor, and TV Host. Ramirez joined Telemundo in March 2016. Since then, he has become an active participant in Milwaukee's Latino Community by volunteering his talent to local events. He is a co-host of ?Que Pasa Wisconsin! a local television show that focuses on issues relating to the Latino Community.
Nayeli Santoyo, Telemundo Anchor, and TV Host. Santoyo is no stranger to news reporting. Knowing that she wanted to be a journalist at an early age, Santoyo has dedicated herself to reporting news and information to the Latino Community. Joining Telemundo in 2014, she has been active in supporting local Latino events, as co-host of ?Que Pasa Wisconsin! she covers the plights and good fortunes of the Latino Community.

Back by popular demand is comedian Elizardi Castro. Castro appeared in the 1st Key to the Latino Community Award and brought the house down. Castro brings a unique sense of comedy with his bilingual anecdotes of Puerto Rican and Latino life. A plus a special musical entertainment featuring a traditional Puerto Rican Bomba music and dancer.
The Key to the Latino Community Awards Dinner is a fundraiser to promote the Puerto Rican Cultural. Proceeds from the dinner benefit the Puerto Rican Family Festival and Nuestro Orgulla Boricua scholarship.
The ticket is $40 person. Includes your choice of a Fish Fry or Chicken Dinner. A table of 10 is $350.00
