3Es EXPERIENCE CONTINUES TO PROMOTE READING PAST SUNSET IN DISADVANTAGED RURAL HOMES.
3Es Experience continues to support pupils in disadvantaged areas of Kajiado to study and read past sunset through the distribution of solar light lanterns since launching the project “Go Solar. Read Smart” in June 2022.?
Pupils of Samuli, Entaretoi and Nembuya Primary Schools were graduating to the new grades. The 3Es Experience team visited the three schools for their new terms.?
One of our agendas for the visit was to distribute solar light lanterns to the new grade 5 pupils in the three schools; Samuli, Entaretoi and Nembuya as well as to any new pupils in each school in grades 6, 7 and 8.
Our volunteers demonstrated how to use the Solar lights to the new grade 5 pupils of each school and how to ensure proper maintenance and care for the lanterns in order to ensure that the lanterns served them for years to come.?
These solar light lanterns have helped pupils to study at homes during the night as well as in the morning before the sun rises. From the teachers' reports, these pupils are able to finish their assignments on time, as well as read for their examinations which has helped them improve in their general performance. We are thrilled to report that the previous grade 8 mean scores in their languages have improved as well as the average mean scores in all the other subjects as compared to the previous years. They scored highly in 2022 as a result of extending their study time past sunset.?
