?? Ciao!
Curved 3D (Space) Truss is very hard to model with conventional method and almost no scope of revision as it will take same time as new work. Its good to use some geometry engine. [Btw, for simple understanding, Geometry Engine just work like excel but for geometries!]
? Why Space Truss ? [Space Truss = No bending moment, only compression /or/ tension]
?? Because: Wide span + Better aesthetics + Low Cost
This small article demonstrate Three dimensional XYZ Surface base space truss parametric model. This is very simple to achieve in any parametric software (Grasshopper / Dynamo) but not in conventional design software like Etabs / Stadd or Tekla.
So, in Grasshopper one can define curved surface it with available commands or import desired Base for working. and use 'Lunch box' tool for geometry divisions or for reference base geometry generation.
?? ?? Grasshopper (GH): Define 3D Surface... or assign imported surface. Grasshopper functions will prepare geometry as per input.
??3. ??? Rhino Model
For rhino model, GH-Preview needed to be baked and further used for engineering analysis. (One can have 100s of options to try with and find best suited option)
