1 年Regarding over 55 job seekers, I'm wondering how many have tried capping their experience on their resume and what their results were. Would that come across as disingenuous if interviewed?

1 年Regarding the question about jobseekers over 55: I am no longer shocked when I look at "About Our Team" pages on company websites and see no one with gray hair. No one. Not even the CEO/Founder/Owner. The company is almost shouting, "Don't waste your time applying here, grandma." Which is sad, because what many of these companies lack, especially if they are startups, is the kind of wisdom that someone can offer who has seen a lot in business over the course of a few decades. And trust me, there's a dearth of wisdom out there. I'm convinced that the mandatory college graduation date question on so many job applications is serving as an immediate punt to the "no thank you" email. I once heard the HR director of a major company tell his HR staff that they would no longer interview anyone who lacked an MBA or had gray hair. That most of the people he was talking to lacked an MBA and had gray hair was lost on him. My advice to the question-asker is to visit those "About Our Team" website pages for any company in consideration. Find some that display people over 50, especially if older people are at all levels in the company. Prioritize applying to those companies. Good luck.
