Understanding your market is key to leading a successful business. My market is San Diego. San Diego is my home, and it is where I have lived my whole life. I grew up diversely throughout the county. Born in San Carlos, grew up in Scripps Ranch, went to elementary school in La Jolla, middle school in Scripps Ranch, high school in Del Mar, and college at SDSU. GO AZTECS!

Selling houses in San Diego does not come easy. In order to obtain a listing you must understand the area in which you are selling, as well as beat out the 100 other agents in the area. Be yourself, and keep pushing. My first listing just sold for $1,585,000. (Scripps Ranch | 4,828 sqft | 6 Bed | 5 Bath)

Not a bad first sale right? I agree. Now, let me explain what I mean by knowing the market. I know that a buyer will be able to buy a bigger house with more amenities in one area than in another. It is important to that your clients know this prior to making outlandish expectations. The second house I sold went for $2,300,000. Here's the catch: (La Jolla | 3,116 sqft | 4 Bed | 3.5 Bath )

That is a huge difference in price per square footage. However, if you look closely this house has panoramic views of the ocean, bay, Downtown Skyline/harbor, and mountains to the east. Absolutely stunning. Having the ability to properly direct your clients into specific areas, based on what they are looking for, will help you find their dream home quick and effectively. Which, in the end, gets you paid faster! Be honest with your clients, and respect will find its way to you.
