?? What Will Trump Do For Web3 On His First Day?...

Trump at Bitcoin 2024, Nashville: "On day one I will fire Gary Gensler!..."

"America's [Web3-focused] laws are too unclear, and too tough, and too angry and too stiff"

Also heard at Bitcoin 2024 (paraphrased): 'I'm a single issue voter... I'm voting for the candidate that doesn't want to put me in jail because I work in Crypto'

It's interesting to see how presidential candidates in the US are viewing the Blockchain and Web3 community. Crypto holders clearly represent a large amount of capital and votes, but if you look closer at the issues, it's less around 'crypto' and more about building Blockchain infrastructure.

It saddens me somewhat that one nation dominate the attention, interest and future of Web3 to such an extent (there are many other nations like HK, Singapore, Switzerland, the UAE to name a few) where Web3 is thriving and has bipartisan support...

However, it's clear that Web3 is being held back in the USA. Funding could be flowing more freely. Progress and innovation could be accelerating. And organisations who already see value in the decentralised web wouldn't be stuck in a regulatory 'grey area'...

????♂? Governments Be Paper-Handing Their Bags

?? The Web3 community have been commenting heavily on the Germans (and mroe recently the Americans) liquidating their BTC holdings in today's market...

Germany seized 50k Bitcoins from film piracy website Movie2k in January earlier this year...... What would you do if you were them?

We're not at a place where the market is at its 'top' (e.g. $70k) but we're not far away...

At the same time, many are predicting a higher values in the future (not investment advice, always DYOR!) and some other governments are even looking at BTC as a treasury asset for the longer term...

And also, dumping $2Bn all at once into a marketplace is unlikely to yield you the 'best' returns... Interesting strategy...

Her face when you start talking about ‘Blockchain things’ at a party (again!)…

Let’s be honest. We’ve all learned so much about the nuances of ledgers, wallets, consensus, cryptography and ‘regulation’ that we can’t help but get a little excited when we meet others who get it too…

But that still leaves a LOT of normies who don’t understand or care about Web3, decentralisation, or whichever airdrop you think you’re going to retire from. So how do you get others to care?

You don’t.

There’s a reason proctologists don’t share the ‘ins and outs’ of their work at a party. And if you work in Web3, neither should you. Maybe just talk about healthy eating instead… Or apps. Maybe start there…

There are 'narratives' and then there are 'TRENDS'...

I'd like to believe that trends are somewhat more grounded as they are typically based on examples and practical applications of technology.

The good people at Block Stack have brought together a useful 'check list' for Web3 use cases and opportunities, including:

- Business Trends?(Payments, CBDC, DID, DeSoC)

- Technology Trends (L2, AI, BaaS)

- Governance & Adoption?Trends (Regulation, Education, Consortia)

- Global Trends?(Metaverse, ESG, National Initiatives)

- And some analysis on the path to further adoptions

As always, don't rely on a single report to colour your views on Web3, but there's a good amount in here that will help validate or extend your knowledge on where, why and how Blockchain in being used today.
