This weeks thoughts:
My 13 week rule of obsession?! The magical formula to speed up your growth...?!
I will be obsessed with it.....
In the past couple of weeks I have been connecting with various up coming leadership talents on their journey in Capgemini's talent programs, sharing thoughts, ideas an personal thinking, but one question kept coming back: "How do you do it?"....to not keep repeating I thought let me write it down for everyone ??.
I think most expected kind of magical formula or short cut to speed up their journey. I understand it is kind of disappointing when I told them there is not really one. BUT there is one thing i can say that has always helped me...... (don't know if it will work for you but it works for me...)
FOR 13 weeks, 91days, i will eat, sleep, and be obsessed with the thing I'm exploring....
Everyday, my free time, my free minutes, I will be delving deeper and deeper, digging the rabbit hole. Reading any book, watching any youtube video about it, practicing skills, talking to experts in the field of my new obsession.... anything I can get my hands on. Yes it does drive my wife crazy sometime (sorry Joanne Bulat-van den Wildenberg ?? ) but it works for me...
Why 13 weeks, 91 days? Really there is no great explanation, but my brain ?? loves a non-conforming number. The idea for me is that really exploring something new takes time, dedication and repetitions. There was a 13weeks periode I have been obsessed with the topic of learning and growth and to sum up the learning in on sentence: You have to give it you attention, time, and focus ??♀? and submerge yourself into the new world you are learning about. Nothing more to it, some extra tricks and thoughts but the most common seems to be obsession, because getting something to become a new habit takes time and reprogramming.
I hear you thinking how do you fit this obsession into your life? Yes i have kids, friends and hobbies and I do need to sleep sometime ?? ..... This simple circle ?? by Jess itzler helped me, and can help you build a life plan for your next 13 weeks of obsession. Keep it simple, in 13 weeks 91days, you will be 273hours more proficient than you where at the start...
Stay curious ?? yes you guessed it is not actually magical, but you can make it so ??
Quotes I'm thinking about
To answer one more question and i will stop: "What if I get obsessed but I find out im going down the wrong path?" I would say think about this quote...
As paradoxical as it sounds, going down a path and not finding a track is part of finding the track...The path of not here is part of the path of here.

This weeks Tech articles
?? New materials and new development in additive manufacturing are enabling us to do amazing new things, like powering your devices with your thermal body Energy. This could be the breakthrough needed to get full gadgetized generation...

?? Nuclear ?? tech is on a cross roads. Our digital world is demanding more and more energy, but how can we supply it without overheating the planet? it is a wicked problem... Energy and water are starting to play the limiting factor even in our newest obsession called AI.
?? If you have missed it now you can also endlessly scroll LinkedIn....hit the video button and get scrolling, for the creators among us, creating short videos will start to payoff so think about it..
Curiosity read this week
An AI's Point of view ..... Can Robots suffer? Very interesting ?? piece and something to pounder as AI agents seem to be the next all intrusive technology we will have to deal with in the next year.
Books I'm (re)-reading
Like always I'm reading multiple books at the same time, but currently im focussing on a book gifted to be by Dr. Cara Antoine -> CTO Excellence in 100 days by Etienne D. If you are contemplating a journey into the world of CTOship or just curious i highly recommend this book, there are learnings for everyone on a leadership journey.
Short video I watched this week:
"Make before you manage." One of my rules for life states the fact that you always show up, but that is easier said then done when thing start to unravel, i think this short video is great advice to keep you focused on the long term.

1 个月Love the idea of a 13-week obsession. I often plan to focus but get distracted by something new and end up switching between unrelated things multiple times within a week. What advice would you give to someone like me who is easily distracted and fears missing out on something better?
