37: PLAY CHESS, NOT CHECKERS
Fresh off the ecstatic joy of directing an ensemble cast of 15 actors from all walks of life for #SuccessentuLife AND holding a cocktail for the potential cast of a new #unscripted #series, I honestly don't know how the coming week can follow such a thrilling day as was yesterday, except that in radically stark contrast, today I landed rudely back in reality spending the entire morning modifying and translating #development #contracts. All this leads me to believe - as I have in the past few months - something that no one has ever said to me: I should have been a #lawyer.
My father was fond of telling my sister - who also didn't study law - that she should have become a lawyer, so adept was she (and, still is?) at twisting people to her will through sheer exhaustion and argument. A born prosecutor, you might say, but I found so many holes in her arguments that I never sided with that determination for her. (Business, on the other hand, would have been her natural home...) I now find myself in need of a lawyer more often than I'd like to admit, and, having none at hand, I believe the best course of action would have been to become one, and while it's never too late, it's certainly not a top priority.
Last Tuesday was the delightful Miami Film Lab board meeting where we presided over the most spectacular #arrozconpollo lovingly made by Carla Berkowitz . In our brainstorm for 2023, we - 5 women - determined that our goal was to become a mini-studio or incubator for Miami made films. So am pretty psyched about that! All I can say is: look out, world!
More next week!
