As 2024 winds down, I find myself reflecting on a year that’s been nothing short of transformative. It’s been a year of incredible challenges and fulfilling growth—what I’d describe as real “shege mixed with wahala.” But through it all, I’ve emerged stronger, wiser, and more anchored in what truly matters.
To mark 36 days to the end of the year, here are 36 lessons this journey has taught me:
1–10: Resilience and Trust
- Resilience isn’t built in comfort zones. It’s forged in the moments you think you can’t go on, but you do.
- Trusting the process is easier said than done, but it’s always worth it.
- Faith grows deeper when answers don’t come immediately.
- Waiting can feel like a punishment, but it often prepares us for something greater.
- Gratitude shifts your perspective, even when life feels heavy.
- Challenges show you who and what truly matters.
- There’s power in prayer, even when you don’t have the words.
- You’re stronger than you think, but it’s okay to lean on others.
- Every setback carries a lesson, even when it hurts.
- Trust yourself to make the right decisions for your life.
11–20: Self-Love and Confidence
- Building confidence takes practice, but it starts with showing up.
- Fear of judgment is just noise—what matters is your truth.
- You have something to offer, and the world deserves to hear it.
- Boundaries are love—love for yourself and others.
- Speaking to yourself like a dear friend is a game changer.
- Choosing yourself isn’t selfish; it’s necessary.
- Social media can be a tool for growth if used with intention.
- Authenticity resonates; people are drawn to the real you.
- Extend grace to yourself—you’re doing the best you can.
- You’re allowed to take up space, unapologetically.
21–30: Relationships and Priorities
- Family is a cornerstone—treasure them.
- Close friendships are a lifeline; nurture them.
- Your relationship with God grounds you in ways nothing else can.
- Not everyone will understand your journey, and that’s okay.
- Letting go of what no longer serves you makes room for what does.
- Listening is more powerful than speaking.
- Supporting others doesn’t mean neglecting yourself.
- Time is precious—spend it with those who matter.
- Apologizing when you’re wrong strengthens relationships.
- Celebrate the wins of those around you.
31–36: Growth and New Beginnings
- Stepping out of your comfort zone unlocks new possibilities.
- Learning never ends; embrace it with curiosity.
- Your story is your superpower—own it.
- Gratitude turns what you have into enough.
- It’s never too late to start again, whether it’s a goal, a dream, or a relationship.
- Life planning is a tool for intentional living—it has been a game changer for me.
