35 Years of Adobe Photoshop: A Personal Tribute to Creativity and Innovation

Happy Birthday, Photoshop! Yesterday marked 35 years since Adobe released version 1.0 of what would become one of the most transformative creative tools in history. Over the past three and a half decades, Photoshop has not only shaped industries but has also inspired generations of creators to redefine art, design, and digital storytelling.

My Personal Journey with Photoshop

My introduction to Photoshop dates back to the year 2000, thanks to Aunali Khimji , a talented designer whose work left an indelible mark on me. Just by looking at his portfolio, I knew I wanted to work for him. His mastery of Photoshop was mesmerizing—he could take an ordinary image and transform it into a work of art, a compelling visual story. That moment was pivotal for me; it sparked my passion for technology-driven creativity and set me on a career path that continues to be influenced by Adobe’s innovations.

A Generational Software

Winston Hendrickson, who led Photoshop for years, often spoke about the idea of "generational software"—technology that transcends time, inspiring new waves of creators with every iteration. Photoshop is the perfect example of this. What started as a simple tool for digital photo manipulation evolved into a powerhouse of creativity, enabling artists, designers, photographers, and marketers to push the limits of visual storytelling.

Photoshop gave us masks, layers, and pixel-perfect editing, allowing creators to bring ideas to life in ways that were once unimaginable. Whether it’s a surreal composite, a breathtaking digital painting, or a photo restoration that preserves history, Photoshop has been the foundation for some of the most iconic visuals in pop culture, advertising, and art.

In the past, I did tons of shooting and was able to create unimaginable without using AI. Below is one of the shoot I did with Sophie-May Lambert and some of my additional portfolio work (you can see below in the article). This would not be possible without Adobe Photoshop.
