35 Days of Peace

35 Days of Peace

Our community continues to grow! 87,119 of us now Meditate for Peace. Thank you for being a part of this movement.

Today is the 35th day in a row that I have meditated for at least 20 minutes.

Prior to 35 days ago, I meditated in a more casual and spontaneous manner: sometimes I sat by the water; other times I meditated in my office. Every now and then, I forgot to meditate as events took over my life.

Here's what I'm starting to experience:

  • There are times during the day when I notice being calmer than normal. Something "stressful" happens, but I don't react with anxiety.
  • I am more content to pause and observe.
  • The tug of "busyness" still means it takes effort for me to meditate. Some days, I don't meditate until 5 p.m.. (I would prefer to meditate in the morning.)
  • I don't worry about meditation. Ever. What happens, happens. If it's hard or easy, if I fall asleep or go deep... I accept it all.

I tell you this not to profess that I am doing it right. There is no right. I'm simply sharing my experiences for one important reason: I want YOU to share your experiences in the comments.

Tell us what works and what doesn't for you. Others may benefit.

If you're stuck, say so. Others may be able to help.

I don't want this to be a newsletter; I aspire to transform it into a community. To do that, I need your help. Please join the conversation!

I have been meditating for years now, and recently went to 20 minutes per morning session from an earlier 15 minutes. Even after all these years, I too have the constant nagging thought: am I ding it right? I try not to be distracted by that thought.

Good for you, Bruce! That’s awesome?? I don’t start my day without quite time with God. Prayer (meditation) allows me to handle whatever life throws at me. In fact, the Holy Spirit is my life coach. My character is built upon the 9 fruits of the spirit. I have to exercise them daily though (they are like muscles) otherwise they become flabby and weak???? I study and speak the Bible (God’s breathed out living Word) out loud so that I learn and know God’s character even more and on a deeper level?? Thanks for inviting me and my perspective into the convo?? Peace be with you ???

Now a days, I am not very regular in meditating as I used to be in past and I sometimes feel guilty about it. But now I changed my approach. Whenever I meditate, I do it with as much focus as possible, so that I get maximum benefits out of it. Thanks for sharing & motivating.

I mediate while I walk in the morning with my thoughts.

Thank you Bruce you make some good points. Especially about not having to judge the meditation in any way. I used get distracted by thinking I’m not doing it right and now I have come to accept that whatever arises neither good nor bad. I have been trying to go 2x’s a day and struggle to “make” time late in the day for it . Grateful for my practice as it is and noticing how caught up I get in the tasks if the day.
