35% Allocation by Reclamation

Federal Reclamation today announced an initial 35% allocation for Central Valley farmers South of the Delta today, Tuesday February 22, 2023. A good start after 3 years of 0% and hopefully increases to come with the large snow packs! More good news, the Temporary Use Change Petition (TUCP) requested by Reclamation and DWR was approved saving us around 700K AF or more of water flowing out to the ocean. As the outflow standard was reduced from the max 29K cfs to 11K cfs. This was much appreciated considering that the outflow was based on January inflow of water into the Delta which was coming off of 9 atmospheric river level storms in and February has been dry and would thus require us shutting down much of exports and taking water our of our reservoirs!! This provides a big increase to our allocation and it a fair and reasonable ask, and what can happen when we all work together! Let's keep the allocation going up!
