33 Energy Management Mantras for a Higher Quality of Life

I probably shared my broken shower and cold water story before, but let me briefly recap how a challenge became one of my biggest blessings in disguise.

When my shower broke down, we were forced to cut off the water supply until it got fixed. The repair process took 5 weeks and I only knew where the cold water handle was outside the building, not the warm water one. Which is why I started to take cold showers with buckets.

This practice transformed my energy in the morning and I no longer felt as tired or as depleted as I used to.

I was also forced to do my laundry in a laundromat which gave me the opportunity to listen to a podcast about breath work.

I had heard and learned about breath work before but I was not ready to actually stay committed to doing this practice on a daily basis.

I remember feeling triggered by something the guest shared.

She said that the reason many people stay stuck in old habits or are unable to change their lives is because they don’t invest in sustainable practices that support the life changes they desire to make.

And this was a bit true for me. I felt tired a lot, and I felt stuck in some areas of my life. So I decided on that day to start free breath work practice and googled breathwork on YouTube.

I stumbled upon Sandy breath work, a wonderful guy whose videos I tried to watch a year ago without success. I mean, my first impression was what was a shirtless guy in a far away exotic country going to teach me about releasing my emotions through breath?

P.S. I was trying out his videos the first time from Belgium, where the sun was nowhere to be found at that time, so that probably shaped my perception!

When we live life with a closed mind, we certainly miss out on opportunities to improve our lives in ways we could never imagine.

I decided to try again and see what happens.

Well, it has been more than 4 weeks and I can’t skip my breath work exercises even if I wanted to.

Not only have they increased my energy, healed some of my physical aches but they have become a hobby of mine. I literally enjoy challenging myself with breath retentions and deep breathing to oxygenate my body.

Are cold showers and breath work the silver bullet for managing your energy and increasing your quality of life?

Probably not but they go a long way when you tackle your biggest energy drainers in life.

And that’s what these reflections are about today, what drains your energy and how can you eliminate these?

You see, I have spent the last 4 or 5 years in hermit mode to work on myself, heal my traumas and evolve into the person that matches the big life I want to live.

Just like when a rocket is launched into air, it can’t go far if its boosters don’t fall off. Too often we focus on adding instead of eliminating.

Too often we focus on managing our time instead of managing our energy.

Too often we stay stuck into what feels familiar to us because change is hard, and thus we tend to complain that nothing ever changes.

One of the biggest life realisations I had, multiple times as I refused to learn the lesson when it presented itself, is that for our lives to change, we need to change from the inside out.

And we need more energy, not more time, to manage and drive these changes with love, with compassion, and with courage.

Our mindset, our perception, and how we feel are directly correlated with our energy levels.

Emotion is energy in motion.

Thus, when we feel higher ratios of negative emotions, it drains our energy.

But when we feel higher ratios of positive emotions, we feel more energized.

This is not rocket science when you look back at your own life experience and notice how your thought process, perception, and the meaning you gave to your life experience in those moments made you feel.

The less we judge, the more we observe and learn how to feel our emotions without making them good or bad, the more energy we will have to increase our quality of life.

Here are 33 Energy Management Mantras I developed for myself to help me manage my energy so I can create a higher quality of life for my family and me. I hope they inspire you, to write your own as a daily reminder that living a better life starts with our thoughts.

Let's dive into them!

33 Energy Management Mantras

  1. I am enough as I am, and I don't need to prove myself or my worth to anyone or anything.
  2. I do the best that I can with what I have at all times. And when I know better, I do better.
  3. I love myself more and more each day so that I am able to love others from a cup that is full, not empty.
  4. I forgive myself every night before I go to sleep for the small and big mistakes, as I am only human and humans make mistakes.
  5. I forgive others every night before I go to sleep so that I don’t carry someone else's emotional burdens into the night.
  6. I appreciate every moment, whether a challenge or an opportunity, as a moment I am grateful to be breathing and to be alive.
  7. I appreciate challenges and never judge them as good or bad, only as experiences that help me evolve in life.
  8. I understand that 'good' days build my ego, and 'bad' days build my character.
  9. I pay attention to how I speak to myself when I fail or make a mistake. I am not stupid; I am silly. Words matter, and I use them with grace.
  10. Whenever I judge someone else, I ultimately judge myself. What is it they are reflecting back to me that I am repressing?
  11. The most important words I will ever speak are the words I speak to myself. I can either grow weeds or flowers in the garden of my mind.
  12. I take what I do very seriously, but I don't take myself so seriously. The world revolves around the sun, and not around me.
  13. It is not that serious. I remind myself that whenever adversity hits, it is not that serious. Did I forget who I am and what I am able to overcome? I got this.
  14. People's opinions of me are a reflection of who they are, not of who I am. Who I am is a masterpiece that keeps unfolding until the last breath flows out of me.
  15. They say I am arrogant; I know I am confident. In any case, my energy is better spent on walking the talk, not talking the talk.
  16. I am not a perfect parent; who is? But I know that I love my son with all my heart, and I try my best to guide and support him into the best man I know he will be.
  17. I release emotions of shame, guilt, or regret whenever I feel that I was not good enough as a mother. My son needs an open heart, not a depleted one that is closed off to the beauty of life's imperfection.
  18. I live in my authenticity every day, as I understand that putting on a mask only depletes my life force as I pretend to be someone I am not.
  19. I understand that gossip is the lowest form of intelligence, and I refrain from partaking in experiences that leave people feeling worse off.
  20. I am at peace with not being understood. A life lived trying to be understood is a life wasted of pure potential to help you grow into the best version you can be.
  21. I am unapologetic about my ambitions. As long as we don't harm anyone in the process, the sky has no limit to what we are able to create and achieve in this lifetime.
  22. I have boundaries not as barriers, but as standards to preserve my energy from those whose only goal in life is to drain it.
  23. I love myself more and more every day. Some confuse self-love with narcissism, but narcissism is love for self without love for others. So love yourself, and love others.
  24. I love a lot of people and most of them are not in my life. That's how I generate more love into this world and maintain my inner peace at the same time.
  25. I am grateful for the hell I have been through because the fire did not burn me, but shaped me into the peaceful warrior I am today.
  26. I choose to be kind because kindness is one of the highest virtues of humankind in a world where kindness is perceived as weakness.
  27. I pay less attention to words, and I pay close attention to actions. When people show you who they are, believe them. The first time.
  28. Integrity is not a marketing mantra. It is a state of being that requires self-awareness every day to always do what is right, and not what is easy.
  29. I would rather be disliked for who I am than be loved for whom I am not. That’s why I keep my inner circle small, as a tree withstands the seasonal storms because of its roots, not because of its leaves.
  30. I don't pay attention to societal labels which stifle my potential. Instead, I follow my curiosity and explore what else is possible.
  31. I am never defined by my job or any material possession. I am defined by my heart and soul as when I leave this planet, I leave with peace of mind and an open heart. No one leaves with their jobs and material wealth.
  32. I help those who are not privileged, born with a golden spoon, and without a voice. In a society where we judge a book by its cover, I feel alive when I help someone else write their plot twist so they can rise into their potential and help leave the world a better place.
  33. I take care of my health. Because without my health, there is no wealth. I treat my body with care and love, as it is the vessel that sustains me as I create a higher quality of life for me and my family.
