Quick disclaimer - I in no way profess to have it all figured out but hope the below will serve others as we try to figure out this wild thing called “life” together.
- Perhaps the single most underrated element in society is the power of human potential.
- "Play long-term games with long-term people." - Naval Ravikant
- Where you are = Where you started + How hard you worked + How lucky you got + The quality of guidance you received + The quality of decisions you made along the way… Though not necessarily in that order. - Bo Lanter
- Satisfaction = "Haves" divided by "Wants"
- How quickly we return to equilibrium - Thus the objective should not be the next material possession, external recognition, award, dollar, etc. but rather the building of the intellectual infrastructure that supports that equilibrium. We must invest heavily in mental health, spiritual connection, proximity to God, physical health and our core relationships, for these are the tools we use to build a foundation that can withstand any storm.
- Faith, family, deep friendships, work that serves others?>?$, power, pleasure, prestige
- Among the biggest myths in life is that getting everything you want is actually what you want.
- Be present and patiently urgent.
- We are dying every day, each moment has a price. Make each moment a bargain.
- Live a life the solves for regret minimization.
- "You can have anything you want but you cannot have everything you want." - Ray Dalio
- If you can optimize for Experience & Impact… That is the golden ticket.
- Be the best at enjoying your life.
- Go to a place in your mind where you are visiting with you in 20 years… If done properly, you will learn a lot.
- A great environment materially enhances productivity – the people around you, workstation, workout equip, ice bath, etc.
- Pray First
- Gratitude, perspective, intentionality… The pursuit is worth the spoils.
- Sand: formerly a living creature, eventually ground up and blown around… let it serve as a reminder. We all came from dust and to dust we shall return, our time here is but a blip in the eyes of the universe, let us make the most of it and may each of us attack life in such a manner that maximize its utility. Or as my father says - "Time flies, so just make sure you have something to show for it."
- There will be challenges… Wisdom lies in the ability to see those challenges as opportunities.
- Hard times make hard men, hard men make good times, good times make soft men, soft men make hard times. - Jordan Peterson
- Balance enables stability, stability enables you to carry a disproportionately heavy load. A better tomorrow requires those of us who can carry a disproportionately heavy load to do so and thus a better tomorrow requires better balance.
- Nothing you know matters unless you take action.
- "You are richer now than we will ever be… Enjoy it while you're young. As we age we realize the pursuit of more money in exchange for time is a fools errand." - Scott Goldman
- Best case we get 30,000 days… How will you spend them?
- We are a product of our environment. Our most important environment is our mind. Make sure we spend time adequately designing this environment. Be intentional about the design of the rooms, the places you go when: Times are tough, Times are good, You're having fun with your friends, You're working, You're working out, You're exploring you. Spend less time worrying about how the outside looks and focus your energy on designing the right inside.
- Be at the mouth of the information river… Or to use a hockey aphorism, "Skate to the net."
- Go to the growth… Whether it be a growing geography, a growing company, a growing industry, an increasingly in-demand skill set or expertise. Being in a growth environment increases the margin for error.
- "The only long-term competitive advantage is people" - Dad
- "It's about 'who' not 'how.' If you get the 'who' right, the 'how' will take care of itself." - Bo Lanter
- Passion is a competitive advantage… Be intentional about cultivating its durability.
- “Dream big, work hard, go for it.” – Antonio Dos Santos
- You are a combination of: 1) The 5 people you spend the most time with, 2) Your habits, 3) What you consume… Choose accordingly.
