This weeks thoughts: The Novelty Machine; Guiding curiosity into productivity!

"Starting something is easy, keeping it going when the excitement fades is the hard part!" - Me & brain ??.

The ONE question I ask myself before starting something new?!..... Sunday morning. Sipping coffee. The kids playing in the background. Reflecting on the week. Thinking about the weeks to come. A thought springs to mind: "The Novelty Machine". Why, why, why ...How? Let me guide you through my crazy brain.

Building the novelty machine got triggered in my brain ??, because last thursday I had the immense pleasure to have conversation with the new training cohort Thought Leaders around the globe. A pleasure to keep the cycle of learn, apply then teach (share) going. But for me always a good time to reflect on what I'm doing and how will it look going forward.

Seeking novelty is kind of what we do as humans. The difficulty is setting up the Novelty machine. How do you guide curiosity to productivity, to outcomes? Technology and innovation go hand in hand. It's kind of a yin yang movement. We love to play with the new.

The trick is to setup a clear thought process.

A balance.

A filter.

A debate.

A team.

A opposition.

Action.

Just thinking is not enough. Just sharing insights is not enough. You have to test your insight. Have a closer look at that greener grass. Build a test ground.

Building a novelty machine should be your goal if you are like me in the technology and innovation business. This is why I always push for building programs. it seems old school, but it forces us to think in cycles. Yes even in technology and Innovation. As I mentioned in the beginning: "Starting something is easy, keeping it going when the excitement fades is the hard part." And trust me it will. Building a program helps you to keep going when that happens. It also helps you to create a machine that keeps 'out putting', so that it is not just you, yourself and you doing it.

To start you journey here is the one question:

What would this look like if this was easy?! - Tim Ferriss

It enables you to create something to move forward even if it isn't prefect. Trust me the complexity will seep in later. Imperfection is kind of key in this, because perfection doesn't need changing.

Stay curious ??

Quotes I'm thinking about

"A good idea on Steroids quickly becomes a terrible idea". - Morgan Hounsel, book Same as Ever
"You don't always need to have the Ultimate solution to make progress" - Shane Parrish book Clear Thinking.

This weeks Tech articles

OpenAI gives it model a memory. Maybe you missed it maybe not, but this an interesting development in my mind. The model will now remember you.

The moon, we are back!!! ?? Space tech is extending our thinking and efforts in deep tech. Really excited to see what comes next.

Deep tech developments and investments? Playground global new 410M investment fund, they intend to invest more into Computing, automation, decarbonisation and biotech. They are not the only ones.

This weeks gadgets to watch

The MWC, mobile world congress rummors are building, What to expect? Will there be new devices like the Rabbit ?? R1, Laptops with transparent screens, new connectivity devices. I will not be there myself so look forward to get so amazing insight for my colleagues that will!!!

Curiosity read this week

An oldy but goodie about the life journey of a Thought leader in the New York Times by David Brooks (also known for his book, Second Mountain ??). It is a reminder to keep grounded.

Books I'm (re)-reading

Same As Ever by Morgan Hounsel, who also wrote the Psychology of money.

Podcast episode I liked this week

This week a bit more personal podcast episode about learning to deal with grind of doing things that most people deem impossible. Identity and identifying what you are or want to be sets your mindset when the going gets tough. I'm an Ultra runner. I'm a Runner. I'm a technologist. I'm passionate. I always so up. I'm a family man. I'm Curious. I'm committed to excellence..... How would you describe yourself?
