31 Ways to Make Your AI-Generated Content Lick the Screen

Everyone is doing it.
?
Everyone is using ChatGPT (or another AI variant) to write their content.
And it shows.
Sorry, but it does.
?
And that’s a big problem – because when everyone’s content sounds the same, no one stands out.
The people who are smashing the content game are doing one of two things.
?
1.?????? They’re not using AI to write their content – they’re writing it themselves
2.?????? They ARE using AI to write their content – but they are honing what AI gives them and making it human. Bringing it to life. Finessing it.
??
Perhaps you’ve tried writing with ChatGPT but it's not hitting the mark.
Or you’re writing with ChatGPT but you’re also seeing posts all over your socials about how you shouldn’t be using it – and how you SHOULD be using it…
…and, for you, it is not working out.
?
If you run a business you know exactly what this feels like.
If you run a business and you’re sick of the LinkedIn bros and their 275 comments per post you know what this feels like.
If you work in a business and content creation isn't really your thing, you also know exactly what this feels like.
And can I tell you something?
Copywriters, like me, who WRITE FOR A LIVING, we know what this feels like too.
Because writing for your business, the one you work in all the time, is flipping HARD.
?
Yes, you can use ChatGPT better. In a way that is more efficient and creative.
?
But if you don’t know what to look for, then you don’t know how to edit what ChatGPT is giving you.
?
So, what are the things we should be looking out for?
?
How do we know when ChatGPT gives us generic, unhuman, unengaging content?
?
We look out for the red flags...
?
Red Flag 1 – It tries too hard (ew):
This is the style ChatGPT uses all the time.
The way it produces the words on the page – the formatting and style.
If you don’t change this and bring your own style to the party everyone who reads your content will know that you’ve used ChatGPT to write it.

It’ll look like you’ve tried just a little bit too hard – and when content is formatted badly, the actual words don’t matter, because no one will read it.
?
Red Flag 2 - it uses stock words and phrases:
These are the words and phrases that ChatGPT uses over and over again.
It uses them excessively and it’s the MAJOR giveaway that you’ve used the tool to write your content.
So, the best thing you can do is read what it’s given you and change all of those words and phrases.
Instead, use language that you would use or that your ideal client would use.
When you do that people sit up and go…’HOLD THE PHONE, THIS IS INTERESTING.’
And that’s how you start making your writing lick the screen.
That’s how you start turning your readers into fans.
?
Red Flag 3 – where’s the HUMANITY?
AI write in a way that reduces connection.
So, we need to put that connection back into what it gives us.
How do we do this?
How do we reintroduce emotion?
How do we reintroduce a sense of excitement?
How do we make people feel something? Think more?
?
You want to be SEEN.
?
So…here’s what I’ve done.
I’ve put together a 10-page AI cheat sheet. And in that cheat sheet are 31 ways you can prevent your AI-generated content from sounding AI-generated.

Who am I?
?
Hey, I'm Ashleigh!
I’m a previous copy and content editor at an in-house agency, editing the words of Emirates Airlines, L'Oréal, and Adidas. I've written content for Microsoft and General Electric. And?I recently founded The Story Team, a business that helps solopreneurs & founders write copy that converts audiences into customers and clients.
I've posted thousands of times on social media, and I've edited millions of words (from blogs to emails to social posts to sales pages and Facebook ads).
?
And I’ve spent 18 months learning everything I can about AI and how to prompt it, leverage it, and be smarter than it.
You don't have to write with AI alone.
There is an easier way. A better way. A more excellent way (and aren’t we all craving a little more excellence in this world of mediocrity?)
