31 Strategies to establish yourself as an expert in your industry (for Business Owners)

As a business owner, establishing yourself as an authority, in your industry, is crucial for the growth and success of your business. By positioning yourself as the credible, trustworthy, Go to Expert, you can attract new clients and customers and unbelievably large, sizzling-hot, ready to convert, high value business growth opportunities.

I mean it.

Today, I'll will give you 31 proven strategies for establishing yourself as an expert in your industry as a business owner and some examples I could think of based on my past interactions with different types of business.

By following these strategies, you'll be able to attract new business, increase your revenue, and take your business to the next level.

I get this question below a lot.

Ques: Should I do all of them?

Ans: No. You don’t need to do everything.

You just can’t. Not even expected.

You just need to choose 2-3 strategic options out of all of the above and keep doing it consistently and you shall start seeing results in 1-3 months.

Build a strong online presence: (4 strategies)

1.?????Create a professional website that showcases your expertise and services. This should include a bio, portfolio, and testimonials from clients or customers.

2.?????Set up social media profiles on platforms such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook Page and Instagram. Use these platforms to share industry news, insights, case studies, success stories and updates on your work.

3.?????Create a blog and publish articles and whitepapers on topics related to your industry.

4.?????Be consistent in branding and messaging across all your online presence.

Network: (4 strategies)

1.?????Attend industry events and conferences, such as trade shows, meetups, and networking events.

2.?????Connect with other professionals in your field on LinkedIn and other social media platforms.

3.?????Join industry-specific groups or associations.

4.?????Reach out to industry leaders and experts, and ask for introductions to other professionals in your field.

Publish content: (5 strategies)

1.?????Write articles and blog posts on topics related to your industry.

2.?????Publish whitepapers, case studies, and research reports to demonstrate your knowledge and insights.

3.?????Consider WRITING A BOOK.

4.?????Creating an online course to further establish your expertise.

5.?????Share your content on your website and social media profiles, as well as other relevant platforms such as LinkedIn or industry-specific blogs.

Speak at events: (3 strategies)

1.?????Reach out to event organizers and offer to speak at conferences, webinars, and other industry events.

2.?????Prepare a presentation or talk that showcases your expertise and provides valuable insights to the audience.

3.?????Be ready to engage with the attendees and answer their questions.

Get certified: (2 strategies)

1.?????Research industry-specific certifications that are relevant to your field. (Like in my early days when I was providing agency services I was triple certified by Google Adwords and Rajeev (my partner) was GAIQ certified.)

2.?????Study for and pass the certification exams to demonstrate your qualifications and knowledge. (This is specifically for professionals and businesses outside India as there are restrictions that you cannot open a business unless you have license which will only be awarded after you have passed a certain exam.)

Volunteer or mentor: (3 strategies)

1.?????Share your knowledge and experience by mentoring others in your industry.

2.?????Volunteer to speak at schools or universities, or to mentor students or recent graduates. Very easy to get.

3.?????Offer your expertise to non-profits or associations or organizations that serve your industry to gain more experience and confidence.

Provide value: (4 strategies)

1.?????Offer free resources such as tutorials, webinars, or e-books to educate others and establish yourself as a valuable resource.

2.?????Create a free newsletter share your insights on industry-specific topics. (Don’t call it Newsletter though. This word has been overly used and “Abused”. Give it a credible name instead of calling it Newsletter.

3.?????Create a podcast and share your insights on industry-specific topics.

4.?????Share your knowledge and answer questions on social media (YouTube, Instagram etc., and subject / industry relevant forums.

Create a niche: (1 strategy)

1.?????Develop a deep understanding of that niche and publish and become known as the go-to expert for that topic. There are extremely simple strategies to do this. (Google Alerts. Wink. Wink.)

Collaborate with others: (2 strategies)

1.?????Partner with other experts to co-create content, host events, or offer services.

2.?????Collaborate with other experts to create a course or program that combines your expertise.

Be consistent: (3 strategies) (This is extremely Important. Truth be told. Even I struggle at it):

1.?????Be consistent in your efforts and always be willing to learn and grow.

2.?????Regularly update your website and social media profiles with new content and information.

3.?????Continuously look for new opportunities to share your expertise, such as speaking engagements, or mentoring opportunities.

Examples:

1.?????As a B2B manufacturing business owner, for establishing yourself as an expert is to build a strong online presence. This can be done by creating a professional website that showcases your products and services, as well as your company's capabilities and certifications, case studies, testimonials, logos of popular clients with a very strong and solid positioning and 6KLH strategies. They must also create social media profiles on platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook Page, and YouTube to share industry news, insights and updates on your work, products, industry etc.

2.?????A CA or Tax Consultant who wants to establish themselves as an expert in the field of tax law, might create a website, blog, and social media profiles that focus on tax law topics, publish articles and whitepapers on tax law, and speak at industry events on tax law topics.

3.?????A Block chain Smart Contract company that wants to establish as the thought leader in the field of block chain smart contract, might create a website, blog and social media profiles (Facebook Page, LinkedIn, YouTube etc.) that focus on smart contracts topics, publish articles and whitepapers on smart contracts, attend and speak at new technologies events, get certified in smart contracts, and collaborate with other experts in the field to co-create content, host events, or offer services.
