31 Mysterious Things About Zimbabwe! Is Zimbabwe Cursed?

Zimbabwe is my beloved country but one whose modus operandi is still a mystery to me. First, Zimbabwe is one country where problems and solutions exist side by side in close proximity but never interacting. In other words, solutions to 99.63 percent of the environmental and economic problems the country has been facing for almost a generation already exist, most within the country but for a strange reasons the country fails in the very simple act of using those solutions to dissolve the economic. Where solutions to these environmental and economic problems do not exist, there is a legion of people within the country who have the capacity and capabilities to develop problem solving solutions for those environmental and economic problems.

You many thinking those in officially in charge of solving these economic and environmental problems are ignorance of the presence of these solutions and of these people who can either solve the problems or at least develop the solutions and give others to use them. Those officially mandated to preside over the solving these problems are aware, but for inexplicable reasons would rather ignore the problems and let them get worse that simply seeking the help of those who with the capabilities, capacities, knowledge, skills and even the gifts to address these economic and environmental problems.

What is so difficult about allowing competent people space and resources to contribute effectively to addressing the country’s economic and environmental problems and to make sustainable development a reality?

Why does Zimbabwe choose to suffer endlessly from problems the country can solve overnight and easily and almost effortlessly? What is the catch that makes Zimbabwe choose to keep problems when there are Zimbabweans who can solve the problems or can provide high fidelity solutions from competent, trained and experienced strategists and technocrats?

Why does the country deliberately use incompetent people to address complex issues and to solve serious problems beyond the strategic or technical or managerial or leadership capacity of those the countries chooses and expect spectacular results?

This is a baffling phenomenon given that decision making positions in the country are occupied by high educated people whom society knows that they know these things?

What is it really?

The Paradox of Calling Out Zimbabweans in The Diaspora to Come Back Home and Play a Part in the Economic Development of Their Country

The same Zimbabwe that is failing to fully utilise competent and trained technocrats who are already in Zimbabwe, including some who actually return from the diaspora, is reaching out to Zimbabweans in the diaspora to come back home contribute to the economic development of their country!

?Zimbabweans in the diaspora are already doing a great job by financially supporting their families and relatives back here in Zimbabwe. If they do not think and plan carefully about returning to Zimbabwe, their chances of facing serious challenges are high. For now, Zimbabweans in the diaspora are at besting coming home for holiday and business and go back where they are. The second best think is to build their homes or set up businesses in Zimbabwe from there where they are. Third, those Zimbabweans who choose to retire in Zimbabwe can come, hopefully after having prepared well for their retirement.

Zimbabwe can call you out to come back and contribute to the development of your country from here, but you will be on your own as soon as land at the RGM Airport. The only people who will be there are your friends and family. You will have to figure out how to resettle into the Zimbabwean society and economy and it many not be manna from Heaven for most.

Zimbabwe Does Not Acknowledge and Utilise Its Own Talent and Gifts. It Does Not Celebrate the Achievements of its Own People

Gifted people are more appreciated, better utilised and more celebrated outside the boarders of Zimbabwe and in foreign lands. If you are gifted or a high achiever, your are, sadly, better off elsewhere in Africa and even abroad. Zimbabwe is a strange country. Zimbabwe will never recognise and fully utilise you if you are gifted or talent. It will never acknowledge or celebrate your achievements. If you are gifted or talented, for now, you better think twice about making your contribution to Zimbabwe from within Zimbabwe. You may suffer seriously financially and also get heartbroken to stay in a country where your gifts and talents can solve existing problems but you don’t get any meaningful opportunities to do so in a way that you can earn enough to have a decent life.
