31 Life Lessons From A 31 Year Old

31 Life Lessons From A 31 Year Old

Today is my birthday and I’ve added one more life lesson to the list that I made last year! Scroll to the bottom to see what I added this year on my birthday!

1. If it’s not a HELL YES, it’s a HELL NO for me. This works in relationship and life.

2. DONT let other people’s negative VIBES ruin your positive vibes. Tell yourself that you’re in charge of how you feel and surrounded yourself with positive optimistic people.

3. The most ATTRACTIVE thing about a person is their willingness to WALK AWAY. Dont beg people to stay - be so awesome that they’ll want to be around you.

4. Life is TOO short. Spend more time with people you love.

5. Say YES first- then figure it out. When you start saying YES to things that make you uncomfortable- more awesome things will happen.

6. TRY to do things that make you slightly UNCOMFORTABLE regularly and follow through with it. It’ll help build your confidence.

7. People around you have a large INFLUENCE on you. Jim Rohn says you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with. Are you spending your time with AWESOME people who will LIFT you up?

8. APPRECIATE people around you. It builds stronger relationships.

9. It’s important to HAVE VISIONS. When you dont know what you want in life, you are at the mercy of what other people want for you. When you know what you want - it’s much easier to find ways to achieve those things.

10. You can have an IMPACT on others. How you choose to act can INFLUENCE other people around you. Are you being a positive change?

11. If you dont like where you are - Make a change - you’re not a tree, you can MOVE. That’s an EMPOWERING mindset shift. Start with writing out what you want to happen - the importance of having visions.

12. Your WORDS MATTER - use positive words to build people up. Good karma will come back to you.

13. TELL the people you love “I love you” everyday.

14. Dont focus on getting people to love you. Focus on BEING HAPPY with your life and you’ll ATTRACT the right people into your life.

15. Go TRAVEL more. Or go to concerts. Take your mind off of stressing out all the time.

16. Think of how you can be GRATEFUL everyday.

17. To be interesting - BE INTERESTED. Show others that you care about them, they’ll want to connect with you.

18. Everyone should take the DALE CARNEGIE COURSE - I’ve seen the impact of it on people - People always say, “I wish I’ve done it sooner.” It certainly changed my life.

19. If you want someone to do more of a certain behavior - PRAISE the hell out of it when they do it - they’ll get a kick and will want to repeat it often. This is one solid way to influence people’s behaviors.

20. Learn how to COOK - it’s such an essential life skill - you can stay small with simple recipes. They say you don’t have to get to start - but you’ll have to start to be great.

21. Be CONSISTENT, INTENTIONAL and PROACTIVE - That’s the only way to get anything in life - You dont go to the gym one day a month and expect great results - Same with relationships and career

22. It’s POSSIBLE to LOVE your job - I used to think that it’s just a job - you find enjoyment from other sources - when you find a great manager and a great a team and a great mission to work for - you will fall in love with what you do

23. Learn to say NO - If I really dont want to - I will say NO - I’m still learning to do this more often - It’s empowering. When we say no to things we dont want, we have time and space to say YES to things we really want.

24. Add VALUE before asking for something in return

25. SPEAK WELL of others - your friends and family are always watching.

26. INFLUENCING OTHERS is a skill we all can learn. It starts with CARING.

27. Knowledge is not power until APPLIED. There is no secret book out there - there is knowledge out there, you gotta turn what you learn into actions to get results - this applies to your relationships, to your career and life.

28. You are what you THINK about - not where you are, or what you have - you could be on a beach in Hawaii, sipping on margaritas, and you can still feel lonely and sad if that’s what you choose to focus on.

29. START saving MEMORIES - capture them in pictures and stories - at the end of the day, They are all we have left!

30. CALL your parents at least weekly. They’re not gonna be there forever.

I’m adding a new one this year to the list:

31. Instead of asking for feedback, ask for ADVICE. Feedback is about what already happened. Advice is forward-looking and action oriented. Asking someone for their advice make them feel valued and make them see you in a positive light.
