3000

In the last four years of my experience working with entrepreneurs and the young corporate, the understanding of entrepreneurship journey and leading an organization has been becoming clearer by the day with deeper revelations. One such … is of the number 3000.

In a new business, the first 1000 days, is the journey to learn and get exposed to challenges not dealt in the past. Time is spent on lot of unlearning with older beliefs and experiences being shaken. These first 2.5 years are tough times where the individuals passion to excel of making a difference is tested time and again through repeated failures. And yet these failures are important as they prepare for what lies ahead. The beliefs held are jolted as one has to make do with whatever resources are available and within the constraints prevalent. These are the days to make mistakes and learn... faster the better.

The learning’s derived from the first 1000 days of experience are brought to implementation in the next 2.5 years. There is lot of exploration with deeper understanding of variables that influence an individual’s business decisions & appetite to take higher calculated risks increases. The business owner engages subject matter experts for specific purposes rather than doing all by self. It becomes imperative here that s/he moves on from making the same blunders and continues to keeps personal levels motivation at all time high. This is also an ideal time to have a partner/guide /mentor for continued positivity around the business owner.

After the first 2000 days, the realizations become stronger. What happens in these 1000 days decides whether the individual continues the leadership journey as an entrepreneur / stakeholder or let’s go off. Those who chose to continue make an immediate shift in focus on what worked and what didn’t in the actions that were taken in the previous 5 years. Quick learners do it sometimes in the first 1000 days itself. What works is ideally repeated again and again, what doesn’t is stopped immediately. As the core competencies get leveraged upon, the success ratio begins to improve and P/L shows the results.

Thereon the entrepreneurs willingness & capacity to develop newer business verticals &/or expansions plans decide the future course of business.

The pace at which an individual in a leadership role surges ahead may vary and could be achieved before/later than 3000 days.

That is a very good read. I would like to understand how has been your journey in context of the 3000 days and what role are you donning for the next leap.
