30 Second SneakPeak: Ready...set...networking season has begun!

I am often asked when is the best time to network. Well it has been my experience that after July and up until the end of summer is the best time. Why is that? Well hiring tends to slow down because this is vacation season. School is out for anyone with children. Some companies even offer every Friday or every other Friday off. Now is the time for you to go through your network and build and refresh it. Reconnect. Find out what the 1st half of the year has been for your former colleague or your friend, or new contact. Keep it very casual but also plant the seed for what you are seeking. Networking is about building a stronger group around you so that if you need to hire someone, need a new job, or just need some fresh ideas it is there. Once you connect with people then make a plan to reconnect every 6 weeks - 2 months. By the way, Linkedin is great for networking, but also look at Meetup and Facebook for networking groups. Get active. You never know when the next best opportunity is around the corner. Have a great start to your summer!
