30 powerful perspectives that transform leadership !

I enjoy reading, and as a practice when I hit something powerful, my first action is to note them down.

Here is a recap of some of those insights from many such reading sessions. Hope you find this edit helpful to trigger a thought in you.

1 – Ask this question “what if my organisation does not exist by 2016 and what could the reasons be” – you will find a new perspective of innovation

2 – One question that can keep you forwarding even in the dullest of moments is “How can I win from here?”

3 – If u are driving on a road which you know well u just need a lantern but if u are driving unfamiliar territory u need a powerful headlight

4- Doubt always, by having this lens to our views without getting paranoid keeps us sustainably creative, age doesn’t matter  to fresh thinking

5 – American President Theodore Roosevelt used to go outside to see stars in the night and remind himself of vastness of universe. It’s a different feeling of President in context of galaxies. Humility sets in, beginning of reality and learning.

6 – In the mind of a beginner there exists infinite possibilities and in that of an expert only a few.

7 – Once an expert on human potential asked just before end of his life what it takes to transform life he said “just be a little kinder”

8 – Try this “wherever u are take 30 exponential steps I.e next step is 2 times previous step 1,2,4,8..” Share where would u be from where u r ”

9 – Ask yourself what kind of a person are you in your interactions with others ” a giver, a taker or a matcher”.

10 – It is pattern recognition and then action at the right place that breeds more accomplishment than working hard where you are.

11 – Big does not always mean better. Nature proves its the smallest species that lives longer ants not the dinosaurs

12 – Best way to predict future is to create yourself

13 – No one wants to be managed. We want inclusion. Is it time for all designations in spirit be Includers not Managers? CEO/Chief Includer?

14 – Research of Harvard graduates over 4 decades (later extended to others) on what causes happiness, it is not their  wealth, education, academic backgrounds, it is their social connections, its a new pointer to what to build !!

15 – What we hear normally “common sense is uncommon” – this is not true – what is uncommon is common sense turning into common actions !!

16 – If you are looking at stealing an idea, steal the “question” that led to that idea than the idea, power lies in asking the right question !

17 – Can you imagine an assembly line with flexible timing for workers? Yes it’s in action in Semler Corp. Anything is possible. Read Maverick.

18 – Future of search is in moving from text to context. When I searched jaguar in google I got car links wherein looking for the animal, even google missing the context.

19 – Brain neuron networks provide clues to social. Social networks need to reduce clutter and improve usefulness, else we may see end of some.

20 – Good to ask what type of fear one has “fear of failure on trying out new” or ” fear of not taking advantage of new possibilities”. The latter is a good fear to have.

21 – Imagine a mango tree with mangoes bottom to top, for someone who wants them once he/she plucks what’s near, scarcity starts, with an instrument called ladder, suddenly there is abundance. Scarcity is contextual.

22 – Spot your passion by asking these questions "What work do I do without feeling bored?", "In my work what produces maximum amount of abundance and staisfaction?"

23 – The most precious resource in the world is “passionate and committed people” – rest all will follow

24 – Consider this lens of “odds of success” in anything you do is “100%”, see what opens up in your deeds… Truly amazing…

25 – A thought for organisations and individuals to take “silent days” where each one spends tim with themselves to see transformation opportunity

26 – Try this interview question which can share new facets of a person, if not already done “what do you do with your free time?”

27 – New possibilities open up when more time is spent in “why of things that matter” than “how of things that matter”

28 – Try this – Express ur company or the business you are in 5 words without using anything directly related to your business – u will discover!

29 – Finnish education system considered world’s best, teachers approach all students equal. Is there a lesson here “everyone is a match winner”

30 - Edison could have invented better light by improving the candle or the wick, what he did was to focus on stopping something to burnout than burning out, incandescent bulb emerged…thinking against status quo produces invention..

Do any of these perspectives strike a chord with you?
