30 Days Of No-Code, A Recap.

Why No-Code?

It all started a few months back when I was introduced to a tool called 'Tray'. My team was planning a new integration with a third-party API and an idea was floated to leverage Tray to speed up the work. At that time I assumed it was just another SaaS product with some grand promises to speed up development work.

To say the least, I was highly skeptical.

Given my general curiosity about new tools and products, I started playing around with Tray to see what the fuss was all about.

And WOW!

The more time I spent with it, the more became clear to me what the tool was capable of.

I wrote almost no code and used these pre-built components in Tray that felt like using Lego blocks to build something much bigger.

The speed at which I was able build the integration was mind boggling.

This led me to wonder what other tools are out there providing a similar kind of development experience. And little did I know that I was in for a surprise! I had noticed the term "no-code" a couple of times (mostly on Twitter) but it was usually associated with Notion or other such products. So I dismissed it.

As I started digging deeper, I uncovered a whole new world. A world that has been taking shaping for a long time but started gaining tremendous steam in the last couple of years. The world of no-code and low-code tools.

There are tools, there are communities, there are businesses and there is conviction. There is the conviction that no-code is the future. And it is not at all about code vs. no-code. I am a Software Engineer by training and I understand all the nuances involved in software development.

No-code is a layer of abstraction on top of code which is empowering the makers of the world who do not have a background in software development.

As I was getting on board with this whole idea, I decided to test the waters on LinkedIn. I posted about an app that I created within 60 minutes with a no-code tool. It blew up! I can't remember how many people reached out to me asking how I created the app so quickly.

I got the signal I needed. I knew it was time to take this space seriously. And that's when I publicly committed to the #30DaysOfNoCode challenge. The idea was to explore, learn and share as I go. I underestimated what it takes to commit to a challenge publicly but I am so glad I did.

There were times when I wanted to give up as I wasn't getting the engagement I was hoping for (more on this in a separate post). Whenever I felt this way, I kept going back to the original post to remind myself of the idea -- explore, learn and share with everyone.

It's been an incredible last couple of months as I played around with almost 50 no-code/low-code tools. For each post, I tested the tool(s) I was going to share and tried to develop a working prototype.

Below, you can find all 30 posts grouped in logical categories:

Conclusion

While the #30DaysOfNoCode challenge might be a wrap, the no-code/low-code revolution is just getting started. This space is evolving by the minute and I plan to continue digging deeper so that I can share the latest updates, tools, tips & tricks with all of you.

My hope is to reduce the barrier to entry as much as possible so that anyone can create software products or use the no-code tools to make their jobs easier/faster/efficient.

I hope you found the information so far to be useful and were inspired to roll up your sleeves.
