30 Day Personal Effectiveness Challenge - July 2021

Hi all,

Personal effectiveness as described by Wikipedia is a branch of the self-help movement dealing with success, goals, and related concepts. Personal effectiveness integrates some ideas from “the power of positive thinking” and positive psychology but in general it is distinct from the New Thought Movement.

I ran a personal effectiveness challenge on Instagram through July to thrust people get started on this journey. It was a simple challenge that started with a motivational quote and nudged people to complete one small task each day. These tasks ranged from a simple "Thank You" message to someone that mattered to getting started on crafting your purpose. I thoroughly enjoyed the challenges, and hope my friends who follow me on Instagram did too.

I received feedback from some of my friends who indicated that they are not on Instagram and would like to participate in the challenge on LinkedIn or Facebook. So here it is, my challenges for all you :)

Day 1: Be Curious, learn something new today. Learn something new everyday.

Day 2: Start sharing your learnings and knowledge, you'll realize you are finding newer perspectives.

Day 3: Make reading a habit. Start today.

Day 4: Refresh the memories, talk to an old friend today, and possibly every other day.

Day 5: Build a new relationship today. Connect with someone you do not know yet. Share, learn and engage in meaningful conversation.

Day 6: List out the things you are grateful for today.

Day 7: Start your daily journal today.

Day 8: Thank someone today and tell them why.

Day 9: Tell that someone special how much you love them and how much they matter to you.

Day 10: Be present for someone that matters to you. Just listen.

Day 11: Share a recent failure and lessons learnt with your family, friends, or colleagues. Make it a practice to share your lessons learnt each time.

Day 12: Forgive yourself and move on. Look into the future so you don't need to forgive yourself yet another time.

Day 13: Do something that makes you uncomfortable. For example, write with your non-dominant hand :)

Day 14: Make 30 mins of exercise a daily practice.

Day 15: Identify a healthy habit partner and partner with them to build newer healthier habits.

Day 16: Start a habit that helps to keep your mind healthy; meditation, prayer,?exercise, reading, gardening, cooking…whatever.

Day 17: Get early to bed and get a rested night's sleep.

Day 18: Go on, look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how much you love yourself and what you are capable of! Afterall you are worth it.

Day 19: Nurture a passion. Take out time everyday to nurture your passion.

Day 20: Exercise your freedom to choose and share what smart choices you made today.

Day 21: Help someone genuinely, without expecting anything in return.

Day 22: Give up your addiction of digital devices at least 1 hour before you go to bed.

Day 23: Do something absolutely ridiculous today, like playing hopscotch or painting your face for your Instagram post.

Day 24: Clear the clutter on your desk, cupboard, wallet etc and enjoy the clarity you experience.

Day 25: List down your short term goal (weekly goal) and long term goal (quarterly, yearly, or 5 yearly).

Day 26: List out what you are going to do to meet your goal today, tomorrow, and every day henceforth to until you reach your goal.

Day 27: Let go some unimportant projects or tasks that are keeping you unnecessarily busy.

Day 28: Do something that will make a loved one feel very good about themselves.

Day 29: Find your purpose today. What are you living for?

Day 30: Gift yourself an affirmation that will make you happy, positive, energetic, and raring to move ahead.

Day 31: If you've been with me through the personal effectiveness challenges, celebrate!!!!
