Promote a healthy balanced life (work-life balance) and employee well-being.
Promoting a balanced lifestyle (work-life) and employee well-being is crucial for ensuring team members' physical, mental, and emotional health. By encouraging a healthy balance between work and personal life, leaders demonstrate their commitment to the overall well-being of their employees. It includes advocating for manageable workloads, setting realistic deadlines, and supporting flexible work arrangements. Prioritizing employee well-being also involves promoting self-care practices, such as encouraging regular breaks, promoting stress management techniques, and fostering a culture that values work-life integration. When employees feel supported in achieving a healthy work-life balance, they are more likely to experience higher job satisfaction, increased productivity, and reduced burnout. By promoting work-life balance and employee well-being, leaders create a positive and supportive work environment that fosters their team members' long-term success and happiness.
As a leader in your organization, lead by example and underscore the importance of promoting a healthy balanced life (work-life) and employee well-being. Since COVID, many companies and organizations have their workforce work remotely, so how do you promote living and working in a healthy balance?
As a manager, how do you avoid having to be the “Bad Cop” when you do not know how much actual work they do from home?
Let’s look at what is a healthy balanced lifestyle.?
A balanced lifestyle consists of 7 areas:

Career
Personal Development

Spirituality
Leisure Time
Health (Physical & Mental)
Community
Each of us must strive to touch base with each of the 7 areas on a weekly basis, and one of them needs to be on a daily basis, I will let you think of which one that is, and. If you think you know which of the seven areas is the most important, I encourage you to share it in the comments below.
Understand that when you are spending too much time in one area, your life becomes unbalanced overtime. This will result in burnout.
If you are suffering from an unbalanced life, send me a message and I can help you regain your balance.
You, your staff and leadership team must educate themselves on and live this new way of thinking. Create dedicated break times and areas where employees can relax, unwind, and recharge. These spaces have comfortable seating, games, and books to provide a refreshing break from work tasks.
When possible, offer various wellness initiatives to support your employees' physical and mental well-being. It includes organizing yoga and meditation classes in-house, or off-site, providing access to fitness facilities or discounted gym memberships, and offering workshops on stress management and mindfulness workshops.
To ensure realistic workloads and deadlines are met, emphasize effective team communication and collaboration to ensure real workloads and deadlines. Managers, who regularly check-in with their team members to discuss workload distribution, identify potential challenges, and provide the necessary support are pro-active and do not become reactive. Encourage open dialogue about workload concerns and actively work towards finding solutions that maintain a healthy balanced lifestyle (work-life) for everyone.
