3 Work Trends - Issue 27

How CEOs can unlock the power of generative AI, what skill leaders can learn from influencers and why AI will never replace teachers – these are the stories covered in this issue of the World Economic Forum’s 3 Work Trends newsletter, your guide to the future of work and education in an ever-changing world.

1. How #CEOs must prepare to unlock the power of #GenerativeAI

While generative AI poses risks for the world of work, it also presents unprecedented opportunities for innovation and efficiency - if CEOs are able to master these three strategic moves.

  • Fostering ecosystem collaboration
  • Strategizing technology investment
  • Building up generative AI talent

To learn more about implementing these strategies, read the full article from Patrick Tsang, CEO of 德勤 in China.

2. Here's what key skill #leaders can learn from #influencers

The secret to effective leadership lies in moving from driving a 'command and control' mindset' to driving a movement that connects with hearts and minds, says the founder of The DO , Florian Hoffmann .

In this episode of #MeetTheLeader , Florian explains why this approach helps leaders tackle apathy and resistance to change, and how it will be all the more important given increasingly fast cycles of innovation.

3. Why AI will never replace #teachers

With regards to AI, 71% of parents, educators and leaders are concerned about the potential risks in a learning environment.

As new tools become integrated into education systems, teachers must be at the centre of conversations around AI, according to David Edwards , General Secretary of Education International .

A new report from the World Economic Forum finds that teachers must remain at the heart of education systems - aided by AI, rather than replaced by it.

When AI is advanced enough, I very much doubt you would have an issue with an AI customised to meet your child's needs. Teachers are a compromise where 1 person is spread thin teaching 15+ kids. My kids spend plenty of time in front of you tube, the worst teacher of all. AI would be an improvement.

Interesting perspective on Artificial Intelligence, however, one basic issue with AI so far is redundancy. I can't even count the number of times I have seen the same content posted by different companies and its instantly recognizable. Anyone else noticed a lot of copy ads starting with the word "Elevate"? Human intelligence is valuable.

Generative AI offers CEOs transformative opportunities for innovation and efficiency, but requires careful management of ethical and integration challenges. Leaders can learn valuable communication and agility skills from influencers, enhancing their engagement and adaptability. Despite AI's advancements, teachers' roles in fostering critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and ethical development ensure that AI will remain a supportive tool rather than a replacement in education.

My day starts with AI since I study daily for my business enhancement. A little phrase from my study book that I ignore can lead to the next level of understanding after getting a response by AI. We need a textbook to learn, which is essential, but the one word you haven’t seen before, usually ignore takes us a big leap - something more important. Teachers aren’t replaceable, AIs provide further knowledge as far as we want to go. Teachers’ human touch with cares and loves support students emotional needs.
