3 Ways Your Energy is Impacting Your Leadership

Through the implementation of our Quit Losing Talent Framework, we help organizations add millions to their bottom line by developing their leaders and fostering company cultures that WIN, KEEP, and INSPIRE employees
Whether you’re at home, at work, or in a public setting, no matter where you are interacting with people, your energy is everything.
?
It’s a proven fact that people feel your energy before they hear your words.
?
How you carry yourself and how you approach people often determines whether or not they even hear what you’re going to say.
?
Let’s look at the 3 different ways energy affects your leadership…
?
1. Negative Energy
Negative energy will do nothing but produce negativity in others. When you carry a negative energy; complaining, griping, anger, unnecessary intensity, you are triggering a response in people before you even speak to them. Negativity triggers fight-or-flight reactions in most people. Some people are going to shut down and completely lose their respect for you and your word. Others are going to fight back and potentially even react in spite of your advice and orders.
?
2. Passive Energy
Passive energy is truly just a neutral, complacent state of mind. Maybe you aren’t actively negative, but you lack excitement and fail to create clarity around goals and visions. This is the type of personality that would be considered insanity; always wondering why things aren’t progressing, but never doing anything different to boost results.
?
3. Positive Energy
This is where you want to live. When you radiate positivity you’re going to inspire positivity in others. Leading from your values and out of a place of optimism creates mindset shifts in others and moves people into action.
?
My challenge for you would be to assess the energy you consistently bring to the workplace.

I try to always be cognizant of that when interacting with people, especially in those instances where I am in a leadership role. This is because I know as a leader, I set the tone for the overall atmosphere of the moment and ultimately the culture for my area. I really stress this to other leaders that report to me that we have the ultimate responsibility for the tone and culture for our respective areas. That our teams will feed off of the attitude and energy we project.
