3 Ways Your Company Can Support The Food Bank This Summer

Interested in joining The Food Bank of Waterloo Region in the fight against hunger? Here are three ways your company can support our work and make a difference this summer.?

Make a donation?

Non-perishable food and financial donations allow us to provide safe, healthy, and nutritious food to our partners in the Community Food Assistance Network, who directly support more than 58,000 people in Waterloo region experiencing food insecurity. Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at any grocery store or police, fire, or paramedic station in Kitchener-Waterloo or to our distribution centre located at 50 Alpine Court in Kitchener. Financial donations can be made on our website. Normally, for every dollar donated, we can provide two meals for someone facing hunger. But during our summer Full Bellies. Happy Hearts. campaign, two meals become four meals thanks to a generous match from the Allan Bush Investment Team.?

Host a food and fund drive?

Food and fund drives are a great way everyone at your organization can get involved and support our work. The food and funds donated through corporate food and fund drives allow us to fill gaps in our inventory, buy food to meet diverse cultural and dietary needs, keep our delivery vehicles on the road, and support our partners in the Network. Don’t forget to register your food and fund drive at thefoodbank.ca/ffd so we can provide you with boxes, bags, and posters paid for by our sponsors, as well as step-by-step instructions for setting up your own custom online donation page.?

Volunteer with your team?

Looking for a fun but meaningful team building activity to do with your co-workers this summer? We can help! The Food Bank offers volunteer opportunities for corporate groups through our Food Engagement program. Activities typically last two hours and involve a task in our warehouse such as sorting non-perishable or frozen food, building hampers, or volunteering in our Fresh Approaches Food Centre.
